Social media platforms, most notably Facebook ( approaching 1 billion users ), have rapidly diffused across the globe in part because the barriers to entry are very low. All you need is a computer or phone and an internet connection and you’re in. This adoption is accelerating as the price of smartphones and computer chips drops, more people are connected to the web, network effects take hold (you get more value out of joining an already established, flowing social network), the underlying financial model becomes more obvious for various actors and compelling new features are released. So what’s the next step? http://blog.swarmado.com/2012/04/16/power-of-the-group/

Liens faibles, liens forts.
http://readwrite.com/2012/01/24/infographic-the-smb-social-med The folks at Flowtown have put together a quick reference guide to six different social media services . Called the SMB Social Media Cheat Sheet, it contains basic stats on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Google+, Tumblr and Digg. What, no LinkedIn? That is perhaps the biggest missing service, but otherwise the infographic, reproduced below, is worth bookmarking for those noobs in your company that are looking to learn more about each service. I particularly liked the how to begin for each service.

10 Creative Facebook Timeline Cover Photo Hacks

http://reface.me/profile-pictures/facebook-timeline-cover-photo-hacks/ Facebook’s imminent launch of the “Timeline” might imply the end of the classic profile photo hack we had so much fun with, but with the introduction of cover photos comes a whole new slew of possibilities for creative personal profiles. We showed you some retro video game inspired cover photo hacks last week, and have been collecting your timeline cover designs during the past few days. Here are our favorites so far. If you feel inspired, the dimensions for the ideal cover photo are 849 by 312 pixels (width x height), and 180 by 180 pixels for a profile picture (but keep in mind that this will be resized to 125 by 125). Please share your creations on our Awesome Profile Hacks page, and we might feature them on this site.

Why use Google+? The question has dogged Google's social networking site since its launch in June. The service, on the surface, seems exactly like Facebook: You can share photos and updates with friends, chat with people, follow your friends' activities, and sort individuals into different groups based on your relationships with them.
