It is exciting to participate in the evolution of an art form. I happened on to wire portraits by chance, and have been exploring variations with the wire. For the Fund-Raiser against Child Abuse, my goal has been to capture a likeness with the fewest lines.

Keeping the portrait simple. The next "step" has been to explore increasingly complex wire portraits. I am working on several now that I hope to finish soon. These complex wire portraits in turn led to exploration in a completely different direction-- using color and line to create paintings. Then play around with color. ★ Paper Sculpture Techniques & Inspiration. Paper sculpture is the manipulation of paper to form a 3D image or structure.

★ Paper Sculpture Techniques & Inspiration

The techniques used are quite basic, with paper cutting, curving/shaping and folding being the main ones in use. You can also incorporate origami skills, embossing and other paper craft methods depending on the project. You will find that most paper sculptures are bold and unfussy in order to make the biggest impact. Clean lines are very important. For larger projects, techniques like paper mache can be incorporated to add strength, and card is often used to replace paper as the project grows in size.

This is absolutely the most popular piece of artwork in our home, so I decided that this would be the perfect tutorial to start with!

Toilet Paper Art « This Handmade Circus

This is made from all recycled paper towel and toilet paper rolls, but everyone thinks it is made of iron. It is super light weight and you can change it to look anyway you would like and costs less than 1$! I found a picture of this on pinterest and LOVED it! There was no tutorial that I could find, so I figured I would just figure it out and it turned out to be super simple and really fun.

The hardest part was the looooooong wait that it took to gather and hoard and “steal” enough toilet paper/paper towel rolls. First gather as many paper towel/toilet paper rolls that you need (mine took a LOT) and then begin cutting them into 1 inch strips. Then form your center flower with as many petals as you would like with the tips touching and pushing them as close together as you can.

Once you’re done, head outside with your spray paint color of choice.
