Crowdleaks came into life during the Operation LeakSpean in December 2010, which aim was to insure, that the publication of #Cablegate by WikiLeaks gets attention around the world. In order to achive this, we’ve invoked the public spirit of crowd-journalismus and the power of crowd-sourcing. The objective of Crowdleaks is to diminish all language barriers that may be encountered by those attempting to access Wikileak’s #Cablegate and other information otherwise hidden from people’s record. With the crowd-sourced summarization, translation and publication of articles, we are able to reach the masses by using a method known as ‘crowd journalism.’ We do this by having any citizen-journalist register at Crowdleaks, then find information that have been leaked by WikiLeaks or any other whistleblowing plattform or reliable source. From there they summarize the contents of the cable and submit it for peer review.
