Computational and Systems Biology at MIT

Please note: You will be asked to attach a scanned (pdf) copy of your transcript(s), your GRE exam document, and (for international applicants), your IELTS or TOEFL exam document. Please have these documents prepared before beginning the application. Email will be the primary method of contacting you, please do not change your email address once you have submitted your application as this will result in a record mismatch. Application Deadline: December 1st. The GRE General Test is required of all applicants. The MIT code is 3514; there is not a departmental code yet appropriate for the CSB program, select the code "5199 Other Fields-Not Listed". IELTS: Minimum score required: 6; most applicants should have scores of 7 or higher. Any changes to our policy will be posted on this page. Course Catalog: Computational and Systems Biology.

The field of computational and systems biology represents an integration of concepts and ideas from the biological sciences, engineering disciplines, and computer science.

Course Catalog: Computational and Systems Biology

Recent advances in biology, including the human genome project and massively parallel approaches to probing biological samples, have created new opportunities to understand biological problems from a systems perspective. Systems modeling and design are well established in engineering disciplines but are relatively new to biology. Advances in computational and systems biology require multidisciplinary teams with skill in applying principles and tools from engineering and computer science to solve problems in biology and medicine. To provide education in this emerging field, the Computational and Systems Biology (CSB) program integrates MIT's world-renowned disciplines in biology, engineering, mathematics, and computer science. Curriculum The CSB curriculum has two components.

Core Curriculum Advanced Electives Jacob K. Systems Biology Ph.D. program - Harvard University. We aim to recruit students from a variety of backgrounds including biology, physics, chemistry, computer science, engineering, and mathematics, who will work together to forge a new approach to biology that combines theoretical and experimental approaches.

Systems Biology Ph.D. program - Harvard University

The typical student has a strong background in one of the disciplines relevant to Systems Biology and an interest in interdisciplinary research. The Systems Biology Program is one of the programs in the Harvard Integrated Life Sciences, which facilitates collaboration and cross-disciplinary research. Please refer to the GSAS Admissions Page for further information on applying. Some of the most important details are noted here for your convenience. Requirements We require on-line submission of the application. Applicants must hold the equivalent of a US bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from an institution of recognized standing (either a three or four year undergraduate degree). versité du Luxembourg - Master in integrated systems biology (académique)

Investigations on the molecular basis of major human diseases, such as cancer, atherosclerosis, type 2 diabetes and Alzheimer’s are now addressed on whole genome, transcriptome, proteome and metabolome level. Systems Biology (an extension of Biochemistry and Physiology) wants to understand and model systems: individual cells, organs and whole organisms on the basis of their constituting molecules. It integrates established disciplines in Biosciences and renovates them for the challenges of the future.

Aims of the programme The Master of Systems Biology combines theoretical and practical education: at least 1,450 hours of practical work in computer labs and wet labs within the university’s Life Sciences Research Unit or in partner institutions (CRP-Santé, the CRP-Gabriel Lippmann, and the IGBMC in Strasbourg).
