I sat down this morning to bake something and started looking through cookbooks I’ve been wanting to try out. I have several new ones and haven’t had time to bake from any of them yet. Maybe I’ll show you the ones I have next time and you can tell me which one to start with. I can’t decide. I love them all. But deciding wasn’t my problem so much this morning because everything fun I wanted to make called for an ingredient I didn’t have. Ugh. And I wasn’t going back out to the store. Luckily, I had peanut butter. And chocolate chips. I pretty much always have those two. So I decided on peanut butter brownies. With chocolate chips … I started by adding a half cup but then finished with a full. Taxes are due Tuesday (yuck) so treat yourself (yes).
Spoon please. These are perfectly fabulous just like this but I thought I would frost them too. I had more chocolate chips I needed to use up – you know – since I need to go to the store anyway. Zesty had a baby shower to attend and she was designated for a dessert/sweet treat for the girls. Last week was a bit of a zoo and I think I forgot about prepping this dessert until Friday afternoon at work. After work I did a quick scan for some ideas and came up with a chocolate caramel brownie. I figured that would be a hit with a “bunch” of girls. I knew time was tight and I didn’t want to spend all night Friday night to prep a dessert. Like this recipe? Sopapilla Cheesecake Bars. These Sopapilla Cheesecake Bars also known as Churro Cheesecake bars are so simple and delicious! When I was growing up one of my favorite shows on TV was Unsolved Mysteries. It, honestly, scared the bejeezus out of me. Robert Stack in his trenchcoat, the creepy music, the potential serial killers on the loose…it all made me a hot mess.
Yet, I watched it. There was generally a murder, a missing person and some sort of haunting or paranormal activity on each episode all impressively re-enacted by (I am assuming) down-on-their luck actors and Matthew McConaughey. I was convinced that no one was who they seemed, and went through a period where I asked my friends and family questions repeatedly looking for variations in their answers.
AND I developed an unrealistic aversion to the beach. It’s an abusive relationship, myself and the Unsolved Mystery…I am ruled by fear, yet I continue going back for more. Spend it in the kitchen baking these bars up. It starts and ends with Crescent Rolls.
