Spring Breakers Directed by Harmony Korine 2012 Lately I have been getting nostalgic from meeting and talking to friends old and new this past month who have also moved up north from Florida. This movie sort of came at the right time for me to reflect on what it means to be a product of “The Sunshine State” as well as how its culture is depicted in television and film both past and present. Having lived in Florida nearly my entire life, including the parts where this film was shot (Clearwater, you are still the worst), it was really good to see St. Pete and Florida in general portrayed in this manner and not like every other movie or TV show set in Miami.

-1 cake mix (favorite flavor) -1 pound powdered sugar (1/2 of 2 lb. bag) -1/4 cup milk -3/8 teaspoon salt -1/2 cup shortening -1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract -1/2 teaspoon almond extract -Food coloring -Decorating ingredients: colored sugars, non-pariels, sprinkles, dragees, coconut, and candy -Select your favorite cake mix. White, Yellow, Lemon, Cherry Chip or Chocolate all work well. -Prepare the cake mix as directed on the package. -Line muffin tins with cupcake paper liners and fill the cups 2/3 full with cake mix.

February 18, 2013 LONDON By Jo-Ann Furniss As Kristen McMenamy emerged in the first look of Giles Deacon 's show this evening—white hair flowing, eye makeup appearing almost bruised, expression somewhat askance, clothed in a long white silk organza dress, modest yet extravagant, somewhere between the bridal and the funeral shroud—it appeared it was time for an excursion in melancholia. And a somewhat Pre-Raphaelite one, for good measure. But it is never quite as simple as that with one of Giles Deacon's collections, and what we actually got was a cross between high art and pop culture, the up and the down, intense craftsmanship and throwaway punch lines.

How About Orange
My local library recently advertised a class for making paperclip chandeliers. Sadly it was for 6th graders, but it piqued my interest. I went home and Googled paperclip chandeliers (awesomeness!) and that led me to Lauren Manoogian's paperclip statement necklaces. They were sold at arty shops, and even Anthropologie had a version for $168. Yeah, you read that right.
