Orchard 11

http://orchard11.squarespace.com/ i've been to south america once- last year when my boyfriend surprised me with a trip to buenos aires. we both fell in love with the city and decided immediately that we have to explore more of south america. at this point in our relationship, we've figured out what type of trips work for us- while we do love laying on a beach and getting our bronze on (or in my case, attempting to get tan), a trip filled with culture, while staying at a hip hotel, is more our pace. my grandfather spent many years working in peru and i'd love to explore the country where he spent so much time. hopefully peru is our next destination. i discovered titilaka lodge through tablet hotels and i'm ready to book my trip. titilaka lodge is an 18-suite hotel situated on lake titicaca is between peru and boliva. incas believe the lake is the birthplace of human civilization and the surrounding areas are full of long living traditions.
http://paloma81.blogspot.com/ Hello, it's Erika from small shop — welcome to another edition of " Design Under the Influence !" One of my favorite pieces of furniture in our home is our Saarinen tulip side table (above). It's a modern form that for me represents so much more than just a handy place to set your drink: it's a piece of design history. You probably recognize it's Star Trek-like pedestal shape, but you might not know exactly how that shape came to be. The creator of the Tulip Chair and Table — architect Eero Saarinen -- studied sculpture at Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris, prior to emigrating to the U.S. to study architecture. This background provided him with a unique sensitivity to form in his buildings and furniture designs, in which he strove for "consistency and relatedness of all parts."

Nude “Sex” shoes (and yes, the word is spelled out in Swarovski crystals) make us want to click our heels three times, get into bed and … put on our slippers. Bold statements set the tone for the spring 2012 issue of T Design. The artist Doug Aitken’s house in Southern California sounds as striking as it looks, while a London town house contrasts historic architecture with opinionated, contemporary decorating. T visits a wind-swept West Coast garden with a personal style and a Chicago artist whose ceramic plants evoke a garden on another planet. We also meet a design-world style maker , a guru of bespoke speakers , an artist whose subject is almost everything , a couple who made a big move to the Midwest and, courtesy of The Selby, we stop in at the delightfully primal Brooklyn restaurant Isa . See all the stories here .

http://heathersthompson.typepad.com/gatheringspriggs/2009/08/index.html Hello dear friends! Its almost the end of the week and I have a wonderful treat for you today- a home tour with the writer of one of favorite blogs, Holmberg Living . I just adore her ethereal interiors and as I transition from a darker/warm color palette to a brighter more light filled pastel interior, I am inspired. Hope you are too! style by the fjord just on the outskirts of Norway's capital city Oslo.

A recently acquired stack of Massimo Vignelli's plastic dinnerware for Heller. We already have more of this than we'll ever need , but these were the rare, earlier Italian-made designs, including the cup and its notoriously designed coffee-spilling handle. Messy, but still, a classic. The handle was redesigned soon after- in his book, Vignelli blames the Americans: Heller Stacking Cups, 1970 : "The cups are stackable and the handles, conceived as a projection of the cup's walls, have a "hole" at the top generated by their form. http://warymeyers.blogspot.com/
The living room has been the most challenging for me to work with. It all started when we first moved in. As I've mentioned before, we found it difficult to configure our existing furniture and create a combined living and dining area. We removed a large built-in and knocked out an adjacent wall to make the room feel larger and somehow managed to get all our furniture to fit without it feeling crammed. http://ishandchi.blogspot.com/2010/01/living-room-changes.html

Magical Creatures is a story written for Wildfox by critically acclaimed author, Francesca Lia Block. Francesca has been an inspiration for Wildfox creators, Emily Faulstich and Kimberley Gordon, since before the birth of Wildfox in 2007. Together Francesca, Emily and Kim have based a collection of dreamy T shirts on the story of 3 very different, magical girls who live in our favorite Wildfox cities – Ella , a fairy from Los Angeles, Cherie , a gypsy from Paris, and Dahlia , a witch from New York. Francesca tells a story of these three girls and their important friendship, a metaphorical weaving of magic and mystery, beautiful clothes, and romantic back drops. “When I first moved to Los Angeles I was so scared.

"A Plein Soleil" & "La Piscine" are among the best films in French cinema history, and both share several similarities. Released in 1960 and 1969 respectively, these films' leading characters are potrayed by the same actors: Alain Delon & Maurice Ronet. Romy Schneider appears on both films also, although her appearance on "A Plein Soleil" as Freddy's friend is for less than a minute. On "La Piscine" Schneider's character, Marianne, is a key figure for the plot.
