It enlarges your sense of human possibility, what human nature is, of what happens in the world. It’s a creator of in-wardness.” I couldn't agree with her more. Reading encourages the mind to travel through different worlds and cultures, and reading also feeds the mind information to give a sense of hope and knowledge. How to Make Perfect Potato Latkes Every Time - Hanukkah I t's inevitable: Whether you roast, fry, bake, or mash potatoes, they're pretty much guaranteed to be delicious. But when it comes to potato perfection, nothing compares to the crispy, oniony, savory latke. We won't lie to you, though. They are a bit of a production. There's a fair amount of standing over a skillet involved and wringing out your potatoes is practically a bicep workout. But take heed: For something so simple, latkes are really easy to mess up if you don't know what you're doing. The Potatoes There's no question about it: Russets are hands down the best spuds for making latkes. The Binder A good latke doesn't require many ingredients beyond potatoes, onions, and eggs, but you need a little bit of binder to keep them together in the pan. The Fat Having enough fat in the pan is super-important to prevent those latkes from sticking. The Method When it comes to frying the latkes, it's all about efficiency. Like most perfect foods, latkes cannot be rushed or made haphazardly.
How to Create a Flat Design Rolled Sushi Icon Set in Adobe Illustrator - Tuts+ Design & Illustration Tutorial The increasing popularity of rolled sushi has resulted in the spread of this dish around the world. Nowadays, there are so many variations and fillings that we can all find something to our taste. In this tutorial we’ll create our own rolls and combine them into a set of colorful icons. We’ll create a base with some simple shapes and transformations and then use it to create as many variations as we can by replacing separate details, like in a constructor. First of all, let’s form the basic part of our future roll. Switch to the Selection Tool (V) and select the shape. Keeping the shape selected, go to Object > Path > Offset Path and set the Offset value to 5 px, creating a bigger shape beneath the initial one. Select the first shape again and create another Offset Path, but this time with -7 px Offset value, creating a smaller square inside the initial one. Apply the dark-blue color (#404E69) to the larger shape. Let’s add some details to our roll. This time we’ll render a rounded roll.
