Islam on yksi valtauskonnoista ja nyt sitä opetetaan Helsingissä - AntroBlogi Al-Sharmani palasi Kairon amerikkalaisen yliopistoon, mutta tällä kertaa tutkijastatuksen kera. Hän opetti dosenttina niin sukupuolen ja naistutkimuksen kuin antropologian laitoksella, sekä maahanmuuton ja pakolaistutkimuksen keskuksessa. Yliopiston sosiaalisen tutkimuksen keskuksessa Al-Sharmani päätyi tutkimusprojektiin, joka käsitteli egyptiläistä perheoikeutta. Jälleen kerran tutkimushankkeella, johon Al-Sharmani lähti mukaan, oli vahvat kytkökset yhteiskunnassa pinnalle nousseeseen ilmiöön. Paul Prather: The mystery of Christians’ support for Donald Trump is solved I’ve expressed before my puzzlement that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump could win so many disciples among the Christians who make up a hefty portion of the Republican base. Trump is an insulting, profane, thrice-married, megalomaniacal billionaire from New York City who can’t even pronounce 2 Corinthians correctly. Indeed, he seems to proudly stand for everything the Christian faith supposedly opposes. And yet a great throng of Christians love the guy. If you, too, have been scratching your head in wonder at this conundrum, allow me to say this mystery has been solved. The answer made great sense, too. It came from a poll by Matthew MacWilliams, a Ph.D. candidate in political science at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He wrote a brief essay for Politico.com about his research. MacWilliams sampled 1,800 registered U.S. voters from across the political spectrum in an attempt to understand Trump’s popularity. MacWilliams summarized what it means to be authoritarian:

What Christians Get Wrong About "Objective Morality." I’ve been noticing for some time that Christians’ morality appears to be shifting–very subtly, but it definitely is. The Christianity I behold today sometimes seems like it has only its name in common with what I experienced as a young person. I’m seeing a lot of Christian leaders remarking upon a new study that’s come out about morality, but they’re getting something very wrong about that study. The End of Absolutes? Are We Sure? One News Now was freaking out over a Barna survey last summer. Oh my, that’s a rather shrill call to arms, isn’t it? The survey is called, rather dramatically, “The End of Absolutes: America’s New Moral Code.” In “The End of Absolutes,” Barna asked a couple thousand people about what faith they practiced, if any, and what their ideas about morality were. Barna concludes, with no evidence that I can see, that “Americans are both concerned about the nation’s moral condition and confused about morality itself.” Objective Horseshit. They’re not alone.
