Center for Computational Thinking, Carnegie Mellon What is computational thinking? "Computational Thinking is the thought processes involved in formulating problems and their solutions so that the solutions are represented in a form that can be effectively carried out by an information-processing agent." Cuny, Snyder, Wing Computational thinking is a way of solving problems, designing systems, and understanding human behavior that draws on concepts fundamental to computer science. To flourish in today's world, computational thinking has to be a fundamental part of the way people think and understand the world. Computational thinking means creating and making use of different levels of abstraction, to understand and solve problems more effectively. Computational thinking means thinking algorithmically and with the ability to apply mathematical concepts such as induction to develop more efficient, fair, and secure solutions. Computational thinking is a Carnegie Mellon thing What's New Special Computational Thinking Seminar: Paul S.

Gamestar Mechanic Här jobbar vi med Arduino – En skolblogg från moobis.se A New Website from Google to Help Students Learn Coding April 22, 2016 Google has recently launched a new interesting website called Computer Science Education to help students learn coding and computer science. Google Computer Science Education provides a collection of powerful tools, resources and programs to engage students in learning about the wonders of computer science. It also provides them with a number of scholarships, internships, residences and several other resources to help them develop their professional and technical skills. The three main sections in the website are: A- Learn Computer Science This page includes a plethora of resources and programs designed specifically for students and educators. It also provides a number of key tools students can use in class to write computer programs. B- Participate in Academic Opportunities This section features programs that offers students, women and minorities a wide variety of opportunities to help them expand their CS knowledge and cultivate valuable professional experience.

Coding in schools: A is for algorithm “LET’S do it again,” calls a ten-year-old. Once more, pupils clasping printed numbers follow tangled lines marked with white tape on the floor of their school hall. When two meet, the one holding the higher number follows the line right; the other goes left. Afterwards they line up—and the numbers are in ascending order. “The idea is to show how a computer sorts data,” explains their teacher, Claire Lotriet. This was the scene at a recent event in London to promote “Hour of Code”, an initiative organised by Code.org, a non-profit, aimed at rousing interest in computer programming—or “coding” in the language of the digital cognoscenti. When computer science was first taught in some American and European schools in the 1970s, generally as an optional subject for older pupils, computers did little unless given instructions in a specialist language. In many places, enthusiasts have moved faster than governments. How a country answers such questions depends partly on what its economy needs.

Men vad säger rapporten egentligen? ”…we have not yet become good enough at the kind of pedagogies that make the most of technology; that adding 21st century technologies to 20th century teaching practices will just dilute the effectiveness of teaching”.
