Ars Electronica | About Ars Electronica What is Ars Electronica? Art, technology, society. Since 1979, Ars Electronica has sought out interlinkages and congruities, causes and effects. The ideas circulating here are innovative, radical, eccentric in the best sense of that term. The Festival as proving ground, the Prix as competition honoring excellence, the Center as a year-‘round setting for presentation & interaction, and the Futurelab as in-house R&D facility extend their feelers throughout the realms of science and research, art and technology. Center – The Museum, Presentation and Interaction The Center is the Museum of the Future—the place where all the diverse blends of artistic genres, scientific domains and technological directions are displayed and processed. Festival – The Experimental Setting Prix Ars Electronica – The Competition Pixar in 1987, Wikipedia in 2004, Wikileaks in 2009—what all three have in common is being honored by Prix Ars Electronica and then proceeding to create worldwide sensations.

Brittney Lee A few months ago, artists at the studio were given canvases and asked to create a piece of artwork based on any one of the 50 Disney animated features that inspires us. Once finished, these canvases will be sold at a charity auction later this year. I will pass along the details as soon as I have them, but for now I thought I would post a few photos of my finished piece:) My inspirational film of choice is (of course) The Little Mermaid. I knew that I wanted to work with paper for this piece, but I also wanted to utilize the large (18"x36") canvas that was given to me. When I make original artwork for gallery shows, I am often asked if it is difficult for me to part with it. Well, this one may be the exception. Have a lovely week, everyone!

Artes & Humor de Mulher | A arte é a auto-expressão lutando para ser absoluta! Knitting and so on: Zoom Out Fingerless Gloves Started from a poin t at the outer edge of the wrist, these fingerless gloves grow in a circle shape and finish at the thumb. One mitt is knitted in one part, i.e. you don’t need to cut your yarn. Because of the shaping this pattern is great to show off variegated yarn. Furthermore, it's a good way to try out new techniques. 1K+Save This work by Knitting and so on is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License. WARNING: The pattern is written in a way that it can be adapted to different hand sizes. Since it also uses some advanced techniques, I guess the pattern is not suited for beginners.

Knitting and so on: Sideways Yoga Socks I love to knit yoga socks … they are comfy to wear and can even be used to warm the feet a bit in summer ... when you tend to have cold feet, but still want the feeling walking barefoot (sort of). As a challenge to myself, I wanted to knit them flat, but without cutting the yarn while knitting one socks. This pattern is what I came up with. So if you don't like to knit in the round, this pattern is for you :) about 25 grams of fingering weight yarn3 knitting needles (3mm), it’s best to use double pointed needles (e.g. one circular and one straight needle)a tapestry needle for grafting and to weave in endsscrap yarn for crochet provisional COa crochet hook for crochet provisional CO Gauge and What to Measure Before starting to knit measure the circumference of your ankles. As to the width of your stitches, I had 13 stitches to 5 cm. General Construction The picture below shows the general construction. The photo below shows how the finished socks look when they are lying flat. Instructions
