Biographie[modifier | modifier le code] Né en Angleterre, à Norwich, en 1946, Philip Pullman a vécu durant son enfance en Australie et au Zimbabwe, où il a effectué une partie de sa scolarité. Passionné dès son plus jeune âge par les contes, il décide très vite de devenir écrivain. Les livres de Philip Pullman sont destinés en majorité à la jeunesse, mais il écrit également pour les adultes. A child is among the most beautiful things nature produces. Children lose their innocence some day. Well, children lose their innocence some day. Not guilty of a crime or offence. Of the above three definitions, I think the second one is relevant in this context. It may be true. Imagine a situation – an innocent child watches his father working on an electronic calculator, with wonder. When he finds that something has happened to the calculator he places it back exactly where he took it from. Then the child finds that it will be safe to lie as otherwise he may be punished. The child has now learned to hide something from others and he has also learned to lie. There is another interesting question – Is there any grown up who has the innocence of a child?
