Giant pool table is 30 feet long and uses 6lb bowling balls By Daily Mail Reporter Updated: 03:15 GMT, 22 January 2011 Most people would rather have a swimming pool in their back garden than an actual pool table. But this is the enormous billiards table, believed to be the largest in world, that an American man built in his yard. Former cage fighter Steve Wienecke used five truck loads of gravel and spent 250 hours to build the one-and-a-half feet high felt-covered pool table. Rack and roll: Steve Wienecke throws a ten-pin bowling ball he uses as a cue-ball on the giant pool table he built in his back garden in Missouri Cue-less: Mr Wienecke throws a heavy bowling ball instead of using a traditional cue in the game of giant pool he invented Players in the game, dubbed 'Knokkers', hurl 6lb ten-pin bowling balls at coloured balls to pot them in giant pockets. Everything on the table is four times the normal size and players are not allowed to move their feet once they have thrown the cue ball. 'Long arms are definitely an advantage.

Darwin Online: The Descent of Man Darwin wrote, in the preface to the second edition, of 'the fiery ordeal through which this book has passed'. He had avoided the logical outcome of the general theory of evolution, bringing man into the scheme, for twelve years, and in fact it had, by that time, been so much accepted that the clamour of the opposition was not strident. He had also been preceded in 1863 by Huxley's Man's place in nature. The book, in its first edition, contains two parts, the descent of man itself, and selection in relation to sex. The first edition is in two volumes and occurs in two issues which can not be distinguished by their title pages, inserted advertisements or bindings. The above descriptions refer to ordinary trade copies. There were two further issues of the two volume English edition, in April and in December of 1871, the seventh and eighth thousands. Piphilology Piphilology comprises the creation and use of mnemonic techniques to remember a span of digits of the mathematical constant π. The word is a play on the word "pi" itself and of the linguistic field of philology. However, piems prove to be inefficient for large memorizations of pi. History[edit] Recent decades have seen a surge in the record number of digits memorized.[3] Until the 20th century, the number of digits of pi which mathematicians have had the stamina to calculate by hand remained in the hundreds, so that memorization of all known digits at the time was possible.[4] In 1949 a computer was used to calculate π to 2000 places, presenting one of the earliest opportunities for a more difficult challenge. Later computers calculated pi to extraordinary numbers of digits (2.7 trillion as of August, 2010)[3] , and people began memorizing more and more of the output. Examples in English[edit] How I need a drink, alcoholic in nature, after the tough chapters involving quantum mechanics! Pie

Ghosts I've always got a kick how people will fall reverently silent and consider you blessed if you say you saw an angel or some "vision", but if you tell those same people you saw a ghost they'd tell you how full of it you were. Is there a difference? I sat in the library for 9 solid hours one day (heaven!), looking at every ghost book they had; "psychic photography", famous hauntings, the haunted; the stupid-ass "ectoplasm" photos of long-ago Mediums, badly faked portraits of spirit photography, the psychology and physiology behind those who claim demonic possession, EVP, infrared ghost photos, Near Death experiences. I reread all the yellowed books of a "famous" ghost hunter and remembered even as a kid realizing what a liar he was. I smiled at the photos of cigarette smoke, water drops, exhaled breath, film glitches, light leaks, developing drips and camera straps that passed as "plasma vortexes" and "spirit globes". Maybe not. But - I know better. Any good ghost stuff, Emaill me.
