With more than 500,000 apps available for use on iOS devices like the iPad and iPod touch, how can you make a good decision about which ones are best for education? TCEA helps by testing and recommending great apps for the classroom. We regularly try out new apps and list those that make the grade in the shared document available here for iPad and here for iPod touch/iPhone. Apps are categorized into 46 different subject areas and 14 different personal use areas. Looking for free books for students in grades K-12 to read on the iPad and iPod touch? TCEA offers a list of recommended iBooks as well. IEAR App Review The app loads to its main page which shows a screenshot and brief description of the Featured Movie. Just about these are four buttons you can choose: Play the Movie, Take the Quiz, See Your Scores, and About BrainPOP. Play the Movie allows you to view the 3-5 minute video about the featured topic. The Featured Movie I was able to watch was about football, but the free video changes daily. The videos usually feature Tim and Moby, who are animated characters that teach about the topic in an entertaining way. Take the Quiz allows you to take a 10 question quiz about the content of the video.
