Hallituksen talouspoliittinen ministerivaliokunta poisti sähköverkkojen ylläpitämisen valtionyhtiö Fortumin strategisista tehtävistä ja tämän päätöksen myötä avattiin tie myydä yhtiön sähkäverkot Carunalle. Loppu onkin sitten tuttua tarinaa: Caruna on nostanut hintojaan, asiakkaat ovat voimattomina puineet nyrkkejään ja tämän jälkeen Caruna on jälleen nostanut hintojaan. Sähköverkko on niin sanottu luonnollinen monopoli. Sijoittajan vinkkelistä tarkasteltuna luonnollisen monopolin hankkiminen on tietenkin houkuttelevaa. Kauma myös tivasi hallitukselta, että aiotaanko ”rahoja palauttaa ryöstöhintoja maksaneille kansalaisille”.

Study reveals world’s most walkable cities | Cities The world’s most walkable cities include London, Paris, Bogotá and Hong Kong, according to a report. The UK capital outranks almost 1,000 cities around the world on citizens’ proximity to car-free spaces, schools and healthcare, and the overall shortness of journeys. Researchers at the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) said making cities walkable was vital to improve health, cut climate-heating transport emissions and build stronger local communities and economies. However, they said very few cities overall gave pedestrians priority and were dominated by cars. Among cities with more than 5 million inhabitants, only Bogotá in Colombia was in the top five for all three measures. The second measure looked at the proportion of people living within a kilometre of both healthcare and education. “Our city streets across the planet are already full of cars,” said Taylor Reich, an ITDP researcher.

Sustainable Development Misconception Study 2020 Monkeys do better than people in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland on sustainability facts! We have a brand new test with 18 questions related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which we tested on people in four Nordic countries. Most humans got 1 to 4 correct answers. They would have scored better if they had closed their eyes and picked answers randomly, as all questions had three answer options which means that the average monkey (or human with closed eyes who don’t know what answers they choose) would pick the right answer every third time, by pure luck, giving them 6 correct answers. All four countries did equally badly. Out of a possible 18, the average number of correct answers in each country was: Sweden: 3.4Denmark: 3.2Norway: 3.2Finland: 3.1 It was yet more proof that humans suffer from systematic misconceptions on important global facts despite all of this data and these facts being freely available on the internet!
