New music generation
Nik Patrick is sending us this mix saying: "As DJs we use machines like tools to interpret the meaning, function, and connection of selected tracks in order to activate an inherently omnipresent, gradual chain reaction inside the listener. In a world of seemingly endless musical tools, I enjoy limiting myself to vinyl in order to come closer to a true & emotional musical experience. Certain limitations are helpful, maybe even necessary to examine an idea more precisely & to acquire a creative set of motor skills. Through buying records I can make a more conscious investment into a functionally and emotionally sustainable library of music. A live crowd demands emotional and structural logic on the dance floor, so playing & recording at home is not ideal for dance music. Home mixes have more linear story lines, perhaps from the lack of influential energy that would otherwise alternate between a DJ and the crowd.

Thousands of FREE internet radio stations, worldwide! This is Live-Radio.net, your one-stop website for listening to live radio stations from around the world! Here you'll find links to THOUSANDS of online radio stations worldwide, all of which, with free software, you will be able to hear through your computer. This is GREAT if you are living away from home and want to listen to news from your country, or maybe even your home town radio station which may be online. Or perhaps you might have been a DX-er and your favourite station is no longer available on MW/SW - many of the old shortwave broadcasters have closed in recent years and some are now available online instead. The stations we list on our website are proper radio stations, i.e. stations which can be heard on a normal radio - our definition of a radio station is a station which actually uses radio waves to transmit its programming, and which can be heard...on a normal radio.

Beth Ditto & The Shoes - Cerrone's Supernature Beth Ditto & The Shoes Album: Best Of Cerrone Productions Cerrone, a trained drummer and disco phenomenon who sold more albums than many other artists, saw his career magnified by America but also twisted by France which quickly reduced him to a style, disco music.

You’re Dead, Unless You Tweet Otherwise Short version – a false report about renowned Dutch DJ Tiësto dying in a car accident spread via Twitter, was talked about so much that it ended up in trending topics, and was ultimately denied by the man himself via his own Twitter account. I increasingly find it disturbing that false information can make the rounds so quickly these days, and I’ve sadly long realized this is an unstoppable, irreversible yet disheartening trend. Somewhat longer version – At the risk of flogging a dead horse (pun intended), I’m saddened by the fact that this is the umpteenth case of a celebrity being declared dead on one or more social networking sites, without anyone seemingly being able to determine the actual source of the ‘news’ and thus unable to verify the information with absolute certainty. I wonder what his family and friends, assuming they’d pick up on this through Twitter or other media that base themselves on these false reports, go through if they wouldn’t be able to reach him instantaneously.

From his first album in 1976 to his 7th, he had an exemplary sense of creativity and a free-spirit vision. Against many advice, he was never reluctant to compose long and pure trance disco tracks, not exactly radio-friendly, but which did well because they encapsulated the hedonism of the day.

Piki.fm Lets You Collect Music to Make Radio for Other People By now, you’ve probably heard of Piki.fm (free for the web and iOS), the latest venture from the creators of the breakthrough music app Turntable.fm, which powers internet radio streams based on your friends’ music. Since Piki’s much anticipated public release in April, some have questioned the necessity of this service. With heavy hitters Twitter and Google recently joining the already crowded music streaming market, and rumors of a forthcoming service from Apple, does Piki have a shot at success? Well, the thing about music apps is that unlike with MP3 players, you can use as many as you want. This works in Piki’s favor, because it takes a unique approach to music collecting. Minilogs Lets You ‘Playlist The Web’ We’re on a quest for the best ways to collect music, which recently saw us examine Later.fm, an InstaPaper-style web app that makes music collection in these difficult times a little bit easier. Minilogs (free; web) was designed to solve the same problem of collecting music on the web, with a little more versatility. By clicking on a bookmarklet (as with Later.fm), using the Chrome extension, or entering a URL, the app lets you save songs and videos you’ve found on your web travels for future listening, so you don’t lose track of the stuff you like during your busy day. To keep your findings (which can also include non-music things) organized, you can save music in different lists, or minilogs.
