Revisionist History Podcast What âSerialâ Really Taught Us The final episode of the first season of âSerialââthe podcast to end all podcastsâcame out this morning. The series has given us a lot to think about. Like other devotees, Iâve listened to many episodes more than once, felt sympathy for Adnan Syed and the loved ones of Hae Min Lee, confusion about Jay, and even more confusion about the cell-phone evidence. Iâve felt a listenerâs kinship with the host, Sarah Koenig, and made jokes about MailChimp and the shrimp sale at the Crab Crib. âSerialâ lured us in with the promise of a good storyâa murder mystery given the âThis American Lifeâ treatment, but over an entire season, like an HBO drama. I got up at six this morning to listen to the conclusion. Every episode began with the showâs contemplative theme and a prerecorded prison-call greeting, and we reflected, sadly, about the fate of a thirty-two-year-old man serving a life sentence, who may have been wrongfully convicted. Every episode was like that.

Slow Burn: Season 2 The saga of Bill Clintonâs impeachment is rich with forgotten characters, surprising subplots, and opportunities to reflect on just how much America has changed over the past 20 years. Whether youâre well-versed in the tale of Clinton and Monica Lewinsky, or youâre fuzzy on the details, this season of Slow Burn will take you further into the story than youâve ever been. From its origins in the Whitewater real estate controversy, the Paula Jones sexual harassment lawsuit, and the suicide of Vince Foster, Clintonâs near-removal from office was the culmination of a process that remains poorly understoodâand continues to reverberate through our political system today. While Season I of Slow Burn captured what it was like to live through Watergate, Season II offers a fresh reexamination of the choices, circumstances, and manipulations that nearly destroyed the 42nd president and forever changed the life of a former White House intern. Read Leon Neyfakhâs introduction to Season 2.
