Design, Marketing & Style Magnified.
Dear Shauna, I grew up with an artistic passion of my own: fashion and design. I had dreams of attending Parsons in NYC but when I sought out my more creative inclinations for college, I was pushed into a more “practical career path”. Flash forward: I’m two months away from graduating with my Mechanical Engineering degree and I recently turned down a job offer at a competitive engineering firm. My parents are literally about to have a heart attack. While I have felt this burning passion and conviction to pursue my dreams of marinating engineering, fashion, and design by starting my own company, I’ve never felt more lost in my life.

aesthetics of joy » color Do we have a universal right to joy? I’ve recently had some new people come into my life who really understand Aesthetics of Joy and what I’m trying to achieve with it. And because they understand it so well, they’re able to challenge me to think about the subject in very different ways. So a couple of weeks ago, one of these new acquaintances asked me this question, and it’s had my mind humming ever since. Is there such a thing as a “universal right to joy”? Cloudy Collection / Print Editions Sometimes it pays to take a step back from all the tiny details and try to distill something to its essence. Simplicity can sometimes be used to gloss over something more complicated, but in the hands of a master, simplicity can clarify an idea so it declares its message more succinctly. On the other hand, in the hands of a master who also happens to be snarky, the idea of simplicity gets turned on its head, and turned into a great visual joke. Have it both ways in this set called “Simple,” with art by Graham Annable, Tad Carpenter, Jennifer Daniel, Tom Gauld, Blanca Gómez, David Huyck, and Lauren Nassef. This stack of seven letterpress prints is made on 4"x6" white bamboo paper using vegetable-based inks on a Vandercook press.
