The Delicious Life — where steak is medium rare and blogging is well-done Macheesmo - Learning to be Confident in the Kitchen Blog » BexLife I lost both of my parents in 2013. My father lost his battle with cancer on April 19, and my mother passed on November 21, ten days after suffering a sudden, massive stroke. If losing my father threw me off balance, my mother’s death finished the job and knocked me right over the edge. What I mean by “less-than-ideal” is that I ate a lot of crap-tastic food and engaged in absolutely no exercise. “Does this serve me and my purpose?” I had forgotten to ask. My roots had seemingly disappeared, and I was floating – disconnected like a helium balloon caught up in a directionless wind. I forgot my purpose. You may wonder why I’m bringing this up right now. Because today, I ate cake. I’m back on the saddle, back to my mantra, and back to my practice of being of service to myself so that I may serve others. And I still ate a giant piece of the most amazing Jewish apple cake I’ve tasted… since the last time my mother made it for me. My 3 Best Tips for Eating and Moving With Love 1. That’s all. 2. 3.

Bacon Guacamole Grilled Cheese Sandwich A guacamole grilled cheese sandwich has been on my to try list for a while now and since I was making the bacon guacamole on the weekend I figured I would just pick up double the ingredients and make both. The basic idea behind this grilled cheese is quite simple and it started out with just adding guacamole to a grilled cheese but with the success of combining salty bacon-y magnificence with cool and creamy guacamole I could not resist adding a few slices of bacon to the sandwich. I also had some leftover corn tortilla chips from dipping on the weekend so I decided to crumble a few of them and add them to the sandwich for texture. Like all grilled cheese sandwiches this one is pretty easy to make though you want to try to remember to pull the guacamole out of the fridge early so that it can come up to room temperature before adding it to the sandwich. Verses from my Kitchen — food. life. writing. photography. Tofu 101: Your Guide To All Things Tofu! Readers, meet tofu. Tofu, meet readers. Welcome to Tofu 101: a guide to the what, why and how of all things tofu. What Tofu is made similar to cheese, and starts with extracting soy milk from ground, cooked soybeans. The more the tofu is pressed, the firmer it becomes. Silken tofu is great for adding to smoothies or scrambling like eggs, while firm or extra firm (my fave) is best for using in everyday dishes. Why Tofu is a great source of protein for those looking for a meat alternative, and it’s also high in calcium, iron and contains no cholesterol. Plus, it’s so versatile! The nutrition and versatility is great, but the TASTE is what I really love. I also really like eating tofu raw, adding it to cold salads and such. What I’m sure you really want to know though is, what’s the texture like? Now, I use a tofu press to press out even more of the water my extra firm tofu comes packed in, just to get it that much more firm, but it’s totally not necessary. How Ingredients: Wok oil Sauce: 1. 2.
