Make-Ahead Oatmeal Smoothies Awhile back, I wrote a post about Overnight Refrigerator Oatmeal that has been very popular with Yummy readers. (Thanks for all of the enthusiastic feedback!) Since then I've been experimenting with a smoothie version of that recipe. Nativity Lantern - Explore the Christmas Story with this simple Upcycled Craft At this time of year we love filling our house with light. Our Advent candles & Christmas tree lights are filling the house with a welcoming glow & brightening up those dark evenings. To add a special glow to our house Minnie created a beautiful Nativity Lantern, & it's been lovely to have as a centrepiece on the table for meal times. This upcycled craft is simple to create, all you need is a clean jam jar or coffee jar, some white greaseproof paper (or tracing paper), 2 strips of thin card (your choice of colour), some double sided tape, & felt-tip pens. We started by measuring a section of greaseproof paper around our jam jar, making sure it was slightly taller than the jar.
How to Tile a Tub Surround Do you know how much money we saved on the kid’s bathroom renovation by tiling the bathtub surround ourselves? About seventeen hundred dollars! When we were planning this project we got a quote to see what we were up against. We were quoted $1,700 just for the labor to install the tile in the new tub area. That wasn’t in our budget and we knew it was something we could do ourselves and I’m so glad we did because I’m pretty sure I paid more attention to the details that were important to me than anyone else would. It took us 2 days, but if you do the math, those 2 days were absolutely worth our time.

Summer Fun Jars I have to give full credit to my cousin Crystal for this summer fun idea. For the Mudpuppy giveaway she commented: "So this summer me and the kids made a summer fun jar so I don't have to be as creative everyday. Each week they pick out an outing, a food to make, and an activity to do at home and we make sure we do all three that week Pipe Cleaner Rose Here's a clever way to make a rose from pipe cleaners - and we warn you that it can become quite addictive! We've used white pipe cleaners for a white rose, but you could of course use red, pink or orange and make roses for Mother's Day or Valentine's Day. You will need: Search Results BOOM. Bet you were expecting a big block of text at the beginning of this post? Like about how this “little stop-gap quick n’ dirty” kitchen renovation spiraled completely out of control and took way more time and a little bit more money than expected? Or how maybe over the course of the project I got a little more ambitious and a little more crazy and a little more perfectionist than when I started out? Or about the time when we thought the kitchen was basically done and then decided to up and add about 40 more square feet of subway tile that you see above? Or like how it robbed me of so many irretrievable hours of my life and maybe some of my sanity and also sent me to the hospital that one crazy time?
Such Pretty Things I have such a treat for you all today...an interview with Christina Strutt, of Cabbage and Roses fame! Her newest book, Living Life Beautifully, has just been released by CICO Books and I was thrilled to have the chance to ask her a few questions... Q. Hello, Christina! Papercrafts and other fun things: A Carousel Box That Really Spins Two versions of the carousel. The one on the left does not have the box base. I love carousels. 2 Super Simple Sangria Recipes If you've never had Sangria before you are in for a treat. I adore wine but it can be so fun to add seasonal fruits (plus a sweetener). I love how Sangria can be super informal, like fruit punch. This beverage conjures up images of laid back beach days or casual back yard cook outs.
POTIONSMITH: Pipe Cleaner Skeleton This is my version of a pipe cleaner skeleton created years ago to make a little boy happy. Why was this young man obsessed with skeletons? Pyrates. Not POTC pirates, but MegaBloks Pyrates. Later MegaBlocks did make a few POTC sets, but they didn’t have the same magic.
