10 Ways to Use QR Codes in the Classroom

10 Ways to Use QR Codes in the Classroom
It has been a while since I have posted any practical ideas for the classroom, and for this I am sorry. However, yesterday I found inspiration, yet again, while preparing for a workshop for my teachers at our school. This coming Friday’s workshop is about mobile learning and I have an opportunity to provide some input on the use of QR Codes in the classroom to motivate young learners. How to create your own QR Codes Application: www.qr-code-generator.com; lets you make QR codes which could then be used in a variety of ways during lessons. Similar application: identical to the website mentioned above. Focus: Creating QR codes for lessons which could include text or links to websites. Level: All levels. Time: 20-45 minutes. 16 Common Core Technology Tools--With Examples - 16 Common Core Technology Tools For Speaking & Listening by Dr. Melissa Comer and Dr. Leslie Suters, Presenters at the 2014 Teaching and Learning with the iPad Conference The Speaking and Listening strand of the Common Core State Standards addresses the need for learners to develop communication skills while sharing their learning with multiple audiences. Students, at all grade levels, are encouraged to work collaboratively, finding best ways to communicate. Unfortunately, neither of these assumptions are accurate. Plickers! Responsenhet på papper! Jag älskar när jag kan integrera det digitala på ett naturligt sätt, att kunna använda digital teknik även om det inte finns 1-1 i klassrummet. Jag hittade Plickers för en tid sen, men har väntat på att appen ska uppdateras för att få de funktioner som jag eftersökte. Plickers är ett responsverktyg som utgår både från en webbsida och en app. I webbläsaren gör du i ordning klasslistor över de klasser som du undervisar, du kan också ha en demo klass, dvs lista utan namn. I klasslistan tilldelar du varje elev en siffra, denna siffra ska eleven alltid komma ihåg. Sedan skriver du ut Plickerscards, det finns 40st som är numrerade från siffran 1 till 40. De går att skriva ut i A5 (6-7m räckvidd) eller A4format ( 9-12m räckvidd). Plickers fungerar så att du kan ställa frågor med olika svarsalternativ (max 4st) som du vill veta vad de tycker/kan om. Frågorna går att göra i förväg i webbläsaren eller direkt i appen. Har du en fråga som du vill ställa? Klipp från Youtube;

untitled Launching a Makerspace: Lessons Learned From a Transformed School Library | MindShift | KQED News Excitement about school makerspaces has been in the air, but many educators eager to create hands-on learning spaces in their schools still aren’t sure how to get started or why it’s worth the effort. New Canaan High School librarian Michelle Luhtala recently jumped headfirst into creating a makerspace in her library and documented what she learned, how her space changed and how it affected students along the way. Her experience was very different from elementary school librarian Andy Plemmons, whose makerspace started with a 3-D printer obtained through a grant and blossomed into a core teaching resource at his school. Luhtala is blessed with a big library, but for most of her career it has been dominated by large bookshelves. Over time, Luhtala has pared down her collection as she increased the digital reading material the library offers, but in order to make room for a makerspace she cleared out 7,000 books.
