MIT Kinect Hack Brings Minority Report Controls Head to the movies to watch a blockbuster feature like Minority Report or Iron Man and you’ll see some really cool technology that you kind of wish existed in the real world. The idea of the exotic interface that Minority Report introduces to us is quite interesting, but that’s usually just the stuff of movies and when the lights turn back on and you end up at your day job, you’ll probably be back to using your regular UI. You have to remember though that there are many creative souls that watch these movies and try to emulate some of these technologies in the real world. I won’t bore you to much with the details other then to say it makes use of ROS, libfreenet and a typical Xbox 360 with Kinect Controller. You may wonder why Microsoft didn’t come up with this idea on their own, which is a fair question, but like all cool toys, its something that gets built over time as more people see new potentials and ways of doing things. The Gadget Flow | Cool Gadgets and Creative Gift Ideas EmDrive EmDrive (also RF resonant cavity thruster) is a proposed spacecraft propulsion device invented by British aerospace engineer Roger J. Shawyer, who develops prototypes at Satellite Propulsion Research Ltd (SPR),[1] the company he created for that purpose in 2000.[2] New Scientist ran a cover story on EmDrive in its 8 September 2006 issue.[3] The device uses a magnetron to produce microwaves which are directed into a metallic, fully enclosed conically tapered high Q resonant cavity with a greater area at the large end of the device, and a dielectric resonator in front of the narrower end. The inventor claims that the device generates a directional thrust toward the narrow end of the tapered cavity. The device (engine) requires an electrical power source to produce its reflecting internal microwaves but does not have any moving parts or require any reaction mass as fuel. The device, its mode of operation, and theories attempting to explain it are all controversial. Cannae drive[edit]

Video: Intel shows off Minority Report-like glass touch screen at CES - Gadgetell by on January 11, 2009 at 9:13 pm Sections: CES, Computers, Displays/Projectors, Hardware, Peripherals, Trade Shows Ever since the movie Minority Report came out in 2002, large touch screens have been compared to the infamous one in the movie. This year at CES, Intel showed off a rough prototype touch screen that involved projecting an image from the rear onto a piece of glass. The prototype showcased the products on display in the company’s booth and allowed us to drag around a 3D image of their booth. It took us some messing around to figure this out, but unfortunately the prototype technology only allowed us to drag around with one finger at a time – unlike the Microsoft Surface’s multi-touch support, for example [see video below].

There’s now a drone racing league that feels like pod racing from Star Wars Presidential candidate Donald Trump easily won the Republican Nevada primary with over 44% of the votes in early counting, in a election marked by complaints of fraud and chaos. He made a victory speech in front of a rowdy crowd dressed in “Make America Great Again” hats and t-shirts at his Las Vegas hotel, and expressed his love for everyone from casino mogul Steve Wynn to the “poorly educated.” He also offered up some more information about his plans should he be elected president, including keeping the Guantanamo Bay detention facility open and loading it up with “bad dudes.” Quartz has transcribed his entire victory speech. Oh boy. You know we weren’t expecting—a couple of months ago, we weren’t expecting to win this one, you know that right? And Michigan—the whole thing. It’s going to be an amazing two months. We might not even need the two months, folks, to be honest. So I want to begin by thanking my boys, Eric has been all over the place making speeches. He loves the rifle stuff.
