25 Disruptive Technology Trends for 2015 - 2016
With every new year comes a landslide of predictions and trends to guide us into the new year. While the year advances, rarely do such transformative trends or changes take place in alignment with a calendar. Not even Y2K could do so Now with that said, I was asked to present my thoughts on what lies ahead in Vegas during CES at Brand Innovators “Mega Trends” event. By the first week of January, there were already some tremendous thoughts already shared by some of the best. So, I thought about and thought about some more. Consider this list v 1.0. The trends are visualized and explained in the embedded Slideshare. 1) Social Media 1.0 is dead. Social media becomes part of a digitally transformed ecosystem Real-time and content marketing becomes more sophisticated and portable Social becomes key hub for shaping customer experiences Social connects the Zero Moment of Truth and the Ultimate Moment of Truth 2) The future of search and SEM also lies outside of Google. 10) Focus on the kids!

Our lives in 2025: What the world will be like in 10 years' time Our world is being transformed by rapid advances in sciences and technology that are touching every aspect of our lives. So what changes could these developments bring about for life as we know it? We only have to look around us to see just how much can change in a relatively short space of time. Our lives have been shaped by developments which most of us couldn’t have imagined a decade ago. For example, handheld devices such as smartphones and tablets now allow us to have live video conversations with our friends, translate instantaneously between multiple languages, watch full length videos and monitor diverse aspects of our health from blood pressure to oxygen flow and stress levels. 3D printing is now being used to create everything from blood cells to entire houses, while new aircraft such as the A380 can carry over 800 passengers on a single flight.

Hyperloop - UW-Physics Garage This project is a Garage home for the UW-Madison student collective BadgerLoop participating in Elon Musk's design challenge. On June 15, 2015 SpaceX announced plans to build a one mile, sub-scale test track of the Hyperloop concept. This is a conceptual, futuristic mode of transportation proposed by Elon Musk in 2013 via a white paper: In addition to building this test track, SpaceX is hosting a design-build-test competition for the pod for this track, targeting university and non-university teams alike from across the world, for the 2015-2016 school year. The 2nd half of this CNN video provides some background. BadgerLoop is UW-Madison’s team for the Hyperloop competition, composed of 50+ active undergraduate and graduate students. The team is driven to make a difference and learn about a new technology in a fast paced environment.

Ray Kurzweil’s Mind-Boggling Predictions for the Next 25 Years In my new book BOLD, one of the interviews that I’m most excited about is with my good friend Ray Kurzweil. Bill Gates calls Ray, “the best person I know at predicting the future of artificial intelligence.” Ray is also amazing at predicting a lot more beyond just AI.
