Nothing Lost, Nothing Gained

Not an unusual thing, however this tutor just happened to be someone whom I helped sign up at TutorZ, last year. Now I remember him because before he signed up with us he had questions, lots of questions. This is a guy who does not just jump into something and then see what happens. Now the reason I recall Michael Q . is because he had specific concerns about putting personal information, including an image of himself out there. He had questions about how the students find him, how they contact him, how much it will cost him.

However, when you work the TutorZ customer service line as much as I do you often find people calling about the service who are more interested in telling us what we need to do and how we should be doing it, rather than asking us exactly what we do and how we do it. Here is why I bring up Michael Q ., a couple weeks after answering all his questions, he emailed me to tell me he was signing up to try us out. The Kid with a Kid Goes to College. I became a single parent in my 40s.

The Kid with a Kid Goes to College

I would have to say it was the hardest and loneliest thing I’ve ever done. My daughter was ten when she moved in with me and we really didn’t know each other very well. Her mother and I split up when she was three. There was a long road of work ahead for us. But I am grateful for it now. While attempting to raise a child with all the limit setting and rite of passage a young girl goes through, along with dental and doctor appointments, I could see that I needed to get into some interest for myself, to keep my sanity. One of the things I liked about community or junior college was that the ages of the students varied, ranging from 19 to 50 years or older. Of course the greatest thing about community college is the prices. As I w ent along taking two or three classes a semester the day came when my counselor called me in and said “it’s time for you to transfer to a university”. No Worries! I had been out of touch with my good friends at TutorZ for a few years now.

No Worries!

It was a great experience working with those guys but, with school ending and my internship ending, it seemed like a good time to move on. Now and again I would regret going separate ways, because the folks that developed and create TutorZ.com were good people and I missed them sometimes. But, I already had a job and circumstances seemed to place me elsewhere.

But they were good times up there being involved in helping get this great idea off the ground. Well, life goes on. I occasionally would receive a newsletter from TutorZ in my inbox, but would just delete it as those days were over and it felt kind of sad. Looking back at TutorZ, there was an example of people thinking, what can we create that would be useful and helpful to many people that would cause no harm to others?
