Grooveshark - Listen to Free Music Online - Internet Radio - Free MP3 Streaming. Five Best Streaming Music Services. On Spotify, I have a hard time discovering music, especially new releases. Their interface for "What's New" is pretty bad- it seems they generate a random list of new albums, no dates, and clicking "More" results in another random list, possibly with the same albums. I feel you kind of have to already know what you're looking for to 'discover' music. Any suggestions? This is my problem with Google Music. Check out HotSpotify: [www.hotspotify.com] This is a great companion website for Spotify that effectively fills that gap. Cloud Music Comparison: What's the Best Service for Streaming Your Library Everywhere?

I REALLY want to use Google Music (since it's one app that handles both music stored on the phone and streamed music), however, there aren't any options for sorting your music. For instance, I usually listen to the music that I've just recently added to my music folders. Subsonic handles this flawlessly by looking at the Modified Date of my music files. Google Music maintains its own history of when music was added (based on upload date).

Subsonic also has options for Random, Top Rated, Most Played and Recently Played. Because of the reasons above (along with price) and the fact that it can handle my video library, I think I'll have to stick with Subsonic. Frankly, I'm using Google right now, but Subsonic is really tempting. I played with Subsonic, but found it to be a bit of a resource hog. Try Audiogalaxy if you didn't like it.

Battle of the Streaming Music Services. I've had Spotify Premium for about two months now (got it for 3 free months via a campaign promo from my ISP) and I have to say I am still disappointed in the software on all platforms. The desktop application has several usability flaws like the size of the list of related artists being tied to the size of the application window or how the radio is constantly playing the same songs or bands. It's just overall poorly designed as far as UI goes.

The iPhone app on the other hand is annoying because sometimes the tabs don't work right, shuffle play seems to go on even when not selected, hitting the X to clear the search field seems to be harder to hit than it should be (or it doesn't register always), if the connection breaks for some reason the only way to reconnect seems to be restarting the app... I'll cancel the Premium when my 3 months is up.
