For years now Facebook has enabled small businesses and large corporations alike to make tons of income through its “fan pages” - companies use these fan pages to allocate a secure costumer base as well as to promote exclusive deals and promotions to their loyal clientele. At the time that I'm writing this article, I haven't used my personal Twitter account in 75 days. Even before that, my postings were days apart (sometimes weeks). It was unintentional at first, with life stresses and busy schedules getting in the way of my normal social usage, but then I deliberately stopped using social media sites. So what does this have to do with you? And what can you learn from the things I've learned with my digital detox?

My writing has improved since I discovered Helium and found an outlet for exercising journalism skills that had been dormant since I worked on my law school newspaper about two decades ago. Thanks to the element of competition in the writing contests and the article ranking process, I have an extra incentive to do my best.
