Cmariearts. Sever, Klara - National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library. Loading Image... Klara Sever was born into a Jewish family in 1935 in Trebišov, Slovakia. With the outbreak of WWII and the founding of the First Slovak Republic, Klara and her family were sent to a concentration camp in Žilina. While in the camp, Klara’s father was able to get a note to his brother living in Banská Bystrica, who, in turn, persuaded a local official to vouch for her family and get them released from the camp under his supervision.
The family lived in several locations until they were forced to go into hiding in 1942. Klara remembers being discovered by a troop of Hungarian soldiers who wanted to capture the men and shoot the women and children. At the last minute, however, the commander stepped in and their lives were saved. In 1951, Klara attended the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. It was at this time that Klara and her husband decided to leave Czechoslovakia and, about two weeks after the invasion, they crossed the border into Austria. Webb Designs - Resellers of Austin Sculpture in the UK - Mother's Love. Lena Weisbek. Photographer with a preference for “abstract” ……………………………..Lena’s photography expresses a passion for the natural and man-made design of the visual world around us.
Her eye is on the lookout for the silent Images, a still, sensuous visualization of the play of space, light and matter. She discovers the beauty in the banal of mundane everyday life and abstracts them to the very essence in effect they are flowing forms…. These works are produced through experimentation with camera and light, so it often makes visible that which is usually hidden to the naked eye. “The essence of the creative act is to see the familiar as strange.“ unknown Thank you for taking a look.
