My brain (and possibly my hands) can’t even keep up with what I’d really like to accomplish this year. I’ll just have to pick and choose…..but I’m pretty excited! However, to get things started off right, how about a sweet little dose from my youngest (and ahem, spiciest?) Child, Chloe. (I’m not kidding……the spice that comes out of this child is kind of jaw-dropping some days.) Ha……that’s just too easy! And you know, I could totally make 7 of these dresses in a day…….because they are simple, simple, simple. A T-shirt, a little knit fabric, minimal sewing (remember, it’s knit, so skip those hems!) And all I did was combine the Circle Dress tutorial with the Square Circle Skirt tutorial. So, yeah, a little twist from the regular ol’ circle dress……but with a little variation along the hem. However, instead of leaving the waist-line plain…..I added a quick little ruched belt. The belt is tied around to the back…..in a floppy bow.

Sweaters are a fountain of ideas when it comes to refashioning - there are so many ways to repurpose and remake them. But this refashion is still my absolute favorite. The idea came to me about a year ago and I made several skirts for my shop back then. I shared this tutorial on Merrick's blog a couple of months ago, but I thought I'd share here as well, in case you missed it back then. The above two are versions I did for the shop. Get the tutorial after the jump! Here's how you can make one for yourself: You will need: 1) A sweater one/two sizes bigger than your usual size.

Step 1. Step 2. Step 3. Now do the same things with your skirt body. Attach the elastic to the skirt body matching the markings on both to each other. Step 4. All done! It was insanely easy to make and I love it so much! Its so flowy and bohemian… The dress is essentially a circle skirt with two really long straps sewn onto the front. You can wrap the straps around you in different ways to make a smorgasbord of dresses! Wanna make a dress?? I am PUMPED today!

Wanna know why? Cause i’m gonna show you how to make quick, easy, and inexpensive dresses just like these! I know what y’all are thinking…no way that’s quick and easy. oh…you are SO wrong. it really is! I might even venture to say that its one of the easiest sewing projects i’ve ever done. go ahead…try it…and try to prove me wrong! I orginally found this brilliant idea here and was instantly motivated to try it. i did, however, change up some things along the way, such as making a long maxi dress, and one other thing in particular that will prevent a massive headache, so i’ll go ahead and post a tutorial here for you to see. i took the following pictures for the tutorial as i was sewing the long dress. i will make a note in each step where there is something different to do for the short dress. first things first…gather your supplies. all you need is a ribbed tank top and some coordinating fabric and thread. how cheap is that??
