OES Annual Report 2014. As of end of 2014, 23 countries had signed the Implementing Agreement, with invitations extended to several others.

OES Annual Report 2014

This membership, from Africa, Asia, the Americas, Europe and Oceania, provides a broad international base of experience and knowledge. National governments appoint a Contracting Party to represent the country on the Executive Committee and there is a diversified representation of interests: governmental departments, utilities, universities and research organizations, energy agencies and industry associations. By information sharing and collaborative activities, participants gain an international perspective on ocean energy issues, opportunities and present challenges. The OES held two ExCo Meetings in 2014: The 26th and 27th meetings were convened in Paris, France (14 – 15 May 2014), and Halifax, Canada (10 – 11 November 2014). OES began operating in 2001 and has released an annual report every year since then. Ocean Energy Europe - Home. Ocean Energy Europe - Home. Renewable energy. Overview Renewable energy can be produced from a wide variety of sources including wind, solar, hydro, tidal, geothermal, and biomass.

Renewable energy

By using more renewables to meet its energy needs, the EU lowers its dependence on imported fossil fuels and makes its energy production more sustainable. The renewable energy industry also drives technological innovation and employment across Europe. 2020 renewable energy targets The EU's Renewable energy directive sets a binding target of 20% final energy consumption from renewable sources by 2020. All EU countries have adopted national renewable energy action plans showing what actions they intend to take to meet their renewables targets.

A new target for 2030 Renewables will continue to play a key role in helping the EU meet its energy needs beyond 2020. Support schemes for renewables. Wave & Tidal Energy. About Wave & Tidal Energy Wave and tidal energy will help decarbonise our energy supply; increase energy security and reduce our dependence on imported fossil fuels.

Wave & Tidal Energy

The UK is currently the undisputed global leader in marine energy, with around 10MW of wave and tidal stream devices being tested in UK waters, more than the rest of the world combined. The state of the art test facilities at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney and Wavehub in Cornwall provide developers with access to real sea conditions with planning consents and grid connections already in place. The ground-breaking Seagen tidal stream generator has been operating in Strangford Lough, Northern Ireland since 2008 and had generated over 9GWh as of March 2014. The world’s first tidal stream farm (also known as an “array”) is currently under construction in the UK, Meygen’s Inner Sound project in the Pentland Firth, Scotland.

Ambiental y Cual.

Paul CRUTZEN.
