New Economic Thinking

Because of the overwhelming interest in our Plenary Conference "Paradigm Lost: Rethinking Economics and Politics," we have created a parallel event, YSI Commons , especially for graduate students, post-docs, and junior faculty. What is “YSI Commons”? YSI is INET's “Young Scholars Initiative,” and “Commons” refers to the intellectual commons that we all share, and also to the venerable “common room” of traditional universities, a central axis of scholarly society and culture.
The Happy Planet Index reveals the ecological efficiency with which human well-being is delivered The index combines environmental impact with human well-being to measure the environmental efficiency with which, country by country, people live long and happy lives. Learn about the ideas behind the HPI, how it is calculated, why we need it and what it can teach us. Improved data for 143 countries around the world, representing 99 per cent of the world’s population, has been used to compile HPI 2.0.
