We Are Selecters · You Are Selecters ♥ » RJ Shaughnessy Photography.

Los Angeles based photographer RJ Shaughnessy transforms the ordinary into extraordinary... “The realities of situations are boring, ... there has to be something broken within the frame,” says Shaughnessy. Into the surreal Posted by Morrison Conway on November 10, 2011 · 22 Comments Moscow-based artist Philipp Igumnov has created these fun illustrations and collages. His artistic style walks a fine line between a melancholy dream world and ridiculous humour with each photograph containing a retro element that works to defamiliarize our notions of the past. Enjoy! More Awe-Inspiring GIFs from Jamie Beck and Kevin Burg. There was a time, not too long ago, when the term "cinemagraph" was being thrown around and internet culture gravitated toward this amalgamation of still shots and modest yet aesthetically effective movement. New York-based photographer Jamie Beck and her counterpart Kevin Burg first coined the term last year, gaining a lot of recognition for their cinematic images with subtle movement. My Modern Met even had the opportunity to interview the creative forces behind the perfected animated gifs.

Since then, the duo has continued to develop breathtaking gifs, often focusing on fashion, and share it on their blog From Me To You. The motion in each image exhibits just the right amount of movement. Whether it's hair or clothing hit by a slight breeze, dangling jewelry swaying back and forth, or the endless burning flame in an otherwise frozen world, the calculated action serves a purpose in adding to the mood or aesthetic.

Van Gogh's Paintings Get Tilt-Shifted (12 pics) After seeing how tilt-shift photography could make real world scenes appear like miniature models, Serena Malyon, a third-year art student, decided to simulate the effect on Van Gogh's famous paintings.

Using Photoshop, she manipulated the light and adjusted the focus to make us see these paintings in ways we could have never imagined. Amazingly, nothing in these paintings was changed, added or removed. The incredible illusions are all created by the magic of Photoshop. Update: Recently, I was able to get in touch with Serena to ask her how she came up with this idea. How did the idea come about to tilt-shift Van Gogh's paintings? Were you surprised by the reaction it received? Why did you choose Van Gogh's paintings to tilt-shift? His work was also really interesting because his paintings include a number of interesting details that we could focus in on and make that the centerpiece of the painting.

Do you have plans to tilt-shift other paintings?
