With these words, the ancient Greek philosopher Archimedes taught us the power of leverage points. It’s a key concept in permaculture design, too. When we deeply understand the system we’re working with—be it a garden, a business, a community, or even a personal relationship—we can spot the places where a small, perfectly located nudge will beget a large response. Plenty of disciplines use leverage points. Office of Policy and Analysis. According to Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History, a pop-up museum “is a temporary exhibit created by the people who show up to participate. A pop up museum usually lasts for a few hours on one day and focuses on bringing people together in conversation through stories, art or objects.” Five Reasons that Pop-up Museums Fit Right in with ECAMP. At the Science Museum of Minnesota, we develop and design interactive exhibits through an iterative process of protoyping and audience testing. While the content and activity are being developed, we build a life-size working model of the exhibit component and test it with visitors to gauge its feasibility and effectiveness. Based on the feedback we receive, we revise the model and interpretation and test it again.

This prototyping process consistently produces safe, reliable, and effective exhibit components. Suzanne Simard: How trees talk to each other. Home - Waters Foundation. Living Systems. Babble Dabble Do - An Innovative Museum That Lets You Play the Role of a Designer. The last time we saw the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, in June, its four floors of expansive galleries were immaculately polished, exceedingly lovely, and totally empty. They’re empty no longer. On Friday, after three years of renovations, the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum will reopen to the public.

The rooms in the former Carnegie Mansion—painstakingly restored by conservationists—house 10 inaugural exhibits that will take visitors through the history of the design industry—and let them glimpse into its future.
