In less than 7 days, Dell is again up and at the surface looking for more purchases to strengthen itself against rivals like HP and EMC. Dells’ executive Vice President Brad Anderson revealed their vision and plans to seek prospect purchases in software and managing data storage systems. He briefly said, “The storage area will continue to be a very attractive area for us. In the meantime, Round Rock, Texas- based Dell plans to keep reselling EMC’s products.”The similar report also discussed terms and conditions about the Compellent deal: “Dell will pay Compellent investors $27.75 a share in cash, the companies said today in a statement, after announcing last week that they were in exclusive talks for a price of $27.50 a share.
The purchase price is 3.3 percent less than the Dec. 10 closing price for Compellent. HP/VMware - cloud storage. HP and VMWare have disclosed their plans to collaborate once again for a product integration that involves customizing HP’s TippingPoint Intrusion Prevention System products with VMWare’s vCloud Director packages.
As reported by both companies, this integration will allow help improve extend security management and automate “the processes of scanning, identifying threats and blocking attacks” across physical and virtual IT stacks. “Building upon HP’s global strategic alliance with VMware, this expanded relationship is designed to deliver additional innovative security technology for a converged infrastructure,” said Alan Kessler, general manager of HP’s security products organization, in a statement on Tuesday. “With the growth of virtualisation and cloud computing, security requirements have never been more complex and critical to our clients.”

Today the company announced Gluster Virtual Storage Appliances for VMware and Amazon Web Services, hitting general availability as of Feb. 15. The VMwareVirtual Storage Appliance brings GlusterFS into a VMware virtual machine that can run on any VMware-compatible server platform. Gluster will sell two tiers of subscriptions for the VMware product. The VMware offering is decoupled from hardware and virtualizes underlying disk and memory resources into a single storage pool with a unified namespace. The standard VM tier is priced at $4,000 per node, per year; and the AWS product will sell at roughly the same price exclusively via Amazon Marketplace. In addition to the Gluster involvement, VMware also made some headlines on its own today.
