Consumer collaboration: points to be scored by progressive brands

Despite a clear trend in this direction, there remains significant resistance within marketing departments to throw away the rule book and open up their brands to input, criticism, advocacy, love or hate from customers. Sure, it’s not a move for the faint-hearted – poorly executed consumer collaboration can result in public humiliation and serious brand damage. But done well, it can show your brand to be progressive, honest and in touch with your customers’ needs which can have a direct and positive impact on your business.

Credit Union History: The Coming Micro-Ownership Revolution

Before the industrial revolution, an artisanal mode of production predominated, with many small work-shops producing the goods required by the largely agrarian economy. At first glance, such the existence of many small firms would suggest a highly competitive economy; however this was not the case. Rather, the high cost of transporting goods created by primitive transportation networks, the risk of brigands, etc., meant that, rather than a single integrated economy, there existed many small economies between which only low-bulk, high-value goods (such as spices) were exchanged. I believe that this historical dynamic has a very interesting implication for our contemporary situation.
