http://rt.com/news/usa-protests-revolution-reform-063/ Fury over corporate power in the US is spreading from New York across the country. Thousands have joined the 'Occupy Wall Street' movement, angered by the economic slump that may lead to a revolution in the country. Robert David Steele, political analyst and former intelligence officer, told RT the US right now is much more desperate than people realize. “We have 22 per cent unemployment and on our way to 30 per cent. We are 16 per cent below the poverty line and on our way to 30 per cent.

So much evidence, there’s no need to show it - Salon.com

Here and elsewhere, it looks like we can expect the Obama administration to continue to barrel down the path that has already taken us far from the country we used to be. And by next year, if a different president is in the Oval Office, expect him to lead us even further astray. With that in mind, here are five categories in the sphere of national security where 2012 is likely to prove even grimmer than 2011. 1. Ever More Punitive (Ever Less Fair-minded). http://www.salon.com/2011/10/03/awlaki_7/
“I think a good deal of the bankers should be in jail.” That is what Andrew Cole, an unemployed 24-year-old graduate of Bucknell University, told me Monday morning in Zuccotti Park, the epicenter of the Occupy Wall Street movement. Mr. Cole, an articulate young man dressed in jeans, a sweatshirt and with a blue wool beanie on his head, had just arrived by bus from Madison, Wis., where he recently lost his job. There was nothing particularly menacing or dangerous about Mr. Cole. http://dealbook.nytimes.com/2011/10/03/on-wall-street-a-protest-matures/

Protester Jesse LaGreca schools Fox producer Even if Geraldo Rivera was at the Zuccotti Park yesterday , Fox News has generally been a tad dismissive of the Occupy Wall Street movement. Foxnews.com (as of this writing) has no coverage of this national event on their front page stories. (Hard to imagine for a network that was so gung-ho about the Tea Party!) Red Eye ‘s Bill Schulz went out to try to “prank” the protesters . Bill O’Reilly sent a producer minion out with the same mission : to belittle OWS’s cause by cutting up interviews to make people sound stupid. http://www.observer.com/2011/10/exclusive-occupy-wall-street-activist-slams-fox-news-anchor-in-un-aired-interview-video/

The New York City General Assembly — the decision-making body for the “Occupy Wall Street” protest in lower Manhattan — approved a statement of purpose on Friday amid concerns that the movement lacked a clear message. As corporations enjoy near record profits and Americans face staggering unemployment, protesters have pledged to occupy Wall Street in lower Manhattan until something is done about corporate greed and the influence of the wealthy on American politics. The protesters have been camped out in New York’s old Liberty Plaza, now called Zuccotti Park, since September 17. “As we gather together in solidarity to express a feeling of mass injustice, we must not lose sight of what brought us together,” the declaration stated. “We write so that all people who feel wronged by the corporate forces of the world can know that we are your allies.” http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/10/02/wall-street-protesters-approve-declaration-of-occupation/#.TojelNonnpt.twitter

My daughter Alexa O’Brien is a thirty something, attractive, well-educated and ingenious woman who was born in Seattle and raised by her hardworking, down to earth, Slavic mother in New York. In March of this year she reached a moment in her life where she had an epiphany about the political state she found this country to be in and decided to do something about it. The question would be where to start. The intellectual outrage she felt was aimed directly at a number of issues she saw as some of the main causes of the problem. Political parties pretending to have the people’s interests at heart while in reality their actions only led to the further empowerment and enrichment of the wealthy, corporate oligarchy and too big to fail banks. Politicians more often then not more interested in the vast sums of money they'll need from their corporate benefactors for reelection then the overall good of the people. http://artistdogboy.blogspot.com/2011/08/september-17th-occupywallstreet-us-day.html

Stuffed Suits - Socialists Plan "Day of Rage" Protests in America

We're not as apt to have riots because A) unlike the folk in the middle east, we have basic freedoms, and B) if we riot just to steal a bunch of shit, the cops will not hesitate to turn to stronger measures than glaring balefully at us. Tear gas and water cannons are what the relatively liberal police forces will use. Rubber bullets and tasers for the other 99%.
