Art of Community
On the weekend of Sept. 21-23, Art of Community is once again being hosted in the beautiful coastal redwoods of Occidental, CA. A unique conference experience, AoC offers a wealth of opportunities for building and practicing skills of a cooperative culture and for people and organizations to share ideas and knowledge about creating and living in intentional communities. Inspiring people to purposefully engage in place-making is central to this year’s AoC vision. Featured speaker Mark Lakeman of The City Repair Project in Portland, Oregon will share wisdom and stories about his involvement in strengthening one’s sense of community via projects which connect people to place. How much food, water, and energy can your city provide locally, in ways that are good for people and the planet? Join a Green Your City campaign and find out. Bay Localize promotes practical models for greater self-sufficiency, and policies that bring them to scale.

The Venus Project
The Venus Project is an organization that proposes a feasible plan of action for social change, one that works towards a peaceful and sustainable global civilization. It outlines an alternative to strive toward where human rights are no longer paper proclamations but a way of life. We operate out of a 21.5-acre Research Center located in Venus, Florida. When one considers the enormity of the challenges facing society today, we can safely conclude that the time is long overdue for us to re-examine our values and to reflect upon and evaluate some of the underlying issues and assumptions we have as a society.-Motown hopes food will spur rebirth, growth-Students Seek Books For a Peopled Planet-Greece on the breadline: cashless currency takes off-Futuristic farm shop grows food in synthetic veg patch-Cut the country some slack and introduce national gardening leave read more
