You may remember the case of Sisense elegantly boycotted under the pretext it is an Israeli company. Not everything went bad after the case went public. First they got great coverage in the marker yesterday (thanks Guy Grimland). Second, they had a great idea: simply complain about the employee's attitude to the main mail of the company. Result : they immediately got an apology from their PR director and from their CIO (who is actually working with many israeli companies) who precise this is not expressing in any case the company's policy. And in addition they are right now performing an internal inquiry (not sure what it means). http://ouriel.typepad.com/myblog/2009/02/israeli-startup.html

" - Brightkite There's no doubt that mobile social networks are vying to be the next big thing for consumers as the mobile handset arena heats up. Plenty of services have gotten their feet wet, but haven't really made it outside of the early adopter crowd. So it comes as no surprise that early adopters and techies are wondering if mobiles services such as Loopt and Brightkite should be worried about Google's latest product: Google Latitude . In one sentence, Latitude is Google's location awareness application. It's geared to take over a niche that's been dominated by other aforementioned services for quite sometime now.

Google reaches out, treads carefully with startup community - TechFlash: Seattle's Technology News Source

Microsoft struggled for years with a negative reputation in the startup and venture capital communities, a perception that has largely been reversed over the past decade. Google -- as the new tech titan on the block -- also is susceptible to being perceived as a bully. But in a wide ranging interview with TechFlash this week, the leaders of Seattle's Google operations say they are working hard to foster relationships with entrepreneurs and venture investors. Perhaps they are attempting to avoid some of the pitfalls that Microsoft encountered during its rapid growth years in the 80s and 90s. http://www.techflash.com/seattle/2009/02/Google_reaches_out_treads_carefully_with_Seattles_startup_community39454717.html

http://techcrunch.com/2009/01/30/the-economy-according-to-mint/ Aaron Patzer is the CEO and founder of Mint.com , a personal finance site that helps 900,000 consumers keep track of their spending. At the World Economic Forum in Davos Switzerland this week, it’s a somber environment. Nearly every session – at least every session that’s full – is about the global economic crisis. While there is much rhetoric and shifting of blame, there is little mention of hard data beyond stock market declines and the price of bailouts.
