Status Quo sozialer Medien in gemeinnützigen Organisationen. Dieser Artikel ist ein Beitrag zur aktuellen Blogparade Social Media für die Bürgergesellschaft. In ihrem Aufruf zur Teilnahme fragen die Initiatoren: “Wie steht es um die Nutzung von Social Media in gemeinnützigen Organisationen?” In diesem Beitrag sollen erste Antworten gegeben werden, inwiefern Nonprofit-Organisationen soziale Medien für ihre Kommunikationsarbeit einsetzen und worin die zukünftigen Herausforderungen für den Dritten Sektor liegen. Seit 2009 werden im Rahmen der Studie “NGOs im Social Web” die Webaktivitäten von 60 mitgliederstarken gemeinnützigen Institutionen in Deutschland erhoben. Jedes Jahr wurden dabei weitere relevante Social Media Plattformen wie Flickr und XING sowie die Einbindung mobiler Spendenmöglichkeiten in die Untersuchung aufgenommen. Die Abbildung verdeutlicht, dass in den vergangenen Jahren nicht nur mehr Organisationen den Einstieg in Social Media gefunden, sondern auch ihr Netzportfolio deutlich erweitert haben.
