Zeitgeist: The Movie is a 2007 documentary film by Peter Joseph . It presents a number of conspiracy theory -based ideas. Among these are a version of the Christ myth theory , alternative explanations for the September 11 attacks in 2001, and the claim that bankers manipulate both the media and the international monetary system in order to consolidate power. The film was released online on June 18, 2007, on zeitgeistmovie.com. [ 1 ] While the film has been praised by some for the professional-level quality of its pacing and editing, and for its compelling narrative, it has been criticized for factual inaccuracies and the quality of its arguments, with critics describing it as " agitprop " and "propaganda". [ 2 ] [ 3 ] [ 4 ] [ 5 ] A sequel, Zeitgeist: Addendum , focuses further on the monetary system and advocates a resource-based social system influenced by the ideas of Jacque Fresco and the Venus Project .

Loose Change is a series of films released between 2005 and 2009 which argue that the September 11, 2001, attacks were planned and conducted by elements within the United States government , and base the claims on perceived anomalies in the historical record of the attacks. The films were written and directed by Dylan Avery , and produced by Korey Rowe , Jason Bermas and Matthew Brown . The original 2005 film was edited and re-released as Loose Change: 2nd Edition (2006), and then subsequently edited a third time for the 2nd Edition Recut (2007), each time to tighten the focus on certain key areas and to correct some inaccurate claims and remove copyrighted material. Loose Change: Final Cut , deemed "the third and final release of this documentary series" [ 1 ] was released on DVD and Web-streaming format on November 11, 2007. [ edit ] Development and release Filmmakers Ray Nowosielski and John Duffy first became interested in making a film about the September 11 attacks when they found Paul Thompson's Complete 911 Timeline website in spring 2003. After obtaining funding, they met Thompson in September 2004, who agreed to let them adapt his work. The filmmakers also met Kyle Hence, who had co-founded 9/11 Citizens Watch , an advocacy organization which monitored the activities of the 9/11 Commission on behalf of the public and was in close contact with the 9/11 Family Steering Committee .
