Este campeonato tiene orígenes durante los años 70 en Italia. Organizado por un club local del país de la “media bota”, estos eventos fueron llevado a cabo a lo largo de Europa, hasta que el club de Hofen, Alemania, organizó formalmente un evento que incluyera a todos los clubes del mundo. En esta ocasión con equipos representativos de países como Estados Unidos y Canadá, este evento se llevó a cabo en la ciudad Nueva Orleans del estado de Luisiana de la Unión Norteamericana.
