To kick off a year of 10 year anniversary celebrations Soundway Records announce the first of several special events happening around the world this year. Taking place in a secret East London warehouse venue on 20th April , ‘Dancing Time With Soundway: 10 year anniversary party’ will see the unstoppable Quantic celebrating the release of his latest cumbia project ‘Los Miticos Del Ritmo’ and Portuguese / Angolan Batida, who will be bringing his electric live show to London for the first time featuring dancers, MCs, VJ, live samples and percussion. Soundway are proud to release the debut album of Portuguese/Angolan DJ Mpula aka Pedro Coquenão. A distinctly modern and vibrant project with its feet firmly rooted in the past, Batida combine samples from old 1970s Angolan tracks with modern electronic dance music. Simply put, Batida is the sound of the wildest Angolan street party

2:54 - You're Early by 2:54 Band Over the past year 2:54 -sister duo Colette and Hannah Thurlow – have established themselves as one of 2012's most important breakthrough UK bands. Following their signing to Fat Possum in the US last week, with the announcement of their eponymous debut album they're preparing to unveil the writing and recording work that's occupied much of their time since the band's inception, and fans of their unique and enveloping sound should prepare to have their expectations obliterated. Occupying a low-lit, vivid space, they unite a distinct concoction of ideas and influences that taps a rock and punk lineage notoriously anchored by the likes of Queens of the Stone Age and Kyuss. However, their sound neatly neighbours the darker, atmospheric reaches of today's R'n'B finest, as well as timeless walls of sound.

Stax Records

(Est. 1959, includes Volt Records) Stax Records is synonymous with Southern soul music. Originally known as Satellite, the Memphis company was founded in 1959 by Jim Stewart and his sister, Estelle Axton, and took its new name in 1961 from the first two letters of their last names. Among the many artists who scored hits on Stax and its Volt subsidiary during the Sixties were Rufus and Carla Thomas, Booker T. & the MGs (an interracial instrumental quartet that also served as the company\'s rhythm section), Sam and Dave, Johnnie Taylor, Albert King, and Otis Redding. Redding\'s death in 1967 signaled the end of the first Stax era (to which Atlantic retains distribution rights).
