Are Aliens Already Here? - Harvard's Controversial John Mack Thinks He May Have The Answer. By Fredric L. Rice The Skeptic Tank May 24, 1994 from SkepticFiles Website Five years ago, when a colleague asked Harvard psychiatrist John E. Mack if he wanted to meet Budd Hopkins, Mack replied, "Who's he? " Told that Hopkins was a New York artist known for his work with people who claimed to have been abducted by aliens and hustled aboard UFOs, Mack swiftly came to a professional conclusion. "I assumed that either there must be something the matter with Budd Hopkins or that Hopkins was encountering a new form of mental illness," Mack recalls.

What Mack found when he finally met Hopkins was something so personally compelling that the veteran psychiatrist plunged into the field of abduction research himself. Over the next three years, as word of his interest in the abduction phenomenon spread, nearly 100 self-proclaimed abductees (or "experiencers") would contact Mack at his office at Harvard University's Cambridge Hospital. "Let me say this. Impeccable credentials.

Philip J. Aliens Are Almost Definitely Out There, SETI Astronomers Tell Congress. Aliens almost definitely exist. At least, that's what two astronomers told Congress this week, as they appealed for continued funding to research life beyond Earth. According to ABC News, Dan Werthimer, director of the SETI [search for extraterrestrial intelligence] Research Center at the University of California, Berkeley, told the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology Wednesday that the possibility of extraterrestrial microbial life is "close to 100 percent. " "In the last 50 years, evidence has steadily mounted that the components and conditions we believe necessary for life are common and perhaps ubiquitous in our galaxy," said Werthimer in his written testimony, adding: "The possibility that life has arisen elsewhere, and perhaps evolved intelligence, is plausible and warrants scientific inquiry.

" Werthimer's colleague Seth Shostak, a senior astronomer at the SETI Institute, also told Congress that he believes our chances of finding extraterrestrial life are high. Investigating UFO sightings in Maine - WGME - Portland ME Top Stories - News, Sports, Weather, Traffic. STATEWIDE (WGME) -- When people think of Maine, thoughts of vacationland beaches, pine trees and lobsters all come to mind, but what about UFO’s? It turns out our state is a hot-bed for UFO sightings.

We spoke to Mainers who claim to have spotted UFO's and the videos they show to try to prove it. From glimmering lights in the sky, to objects that appear to fly in formation and disc-like objects, there are sighting after sighting, and video after video, of what many are calling UFO's high in the skies above vacationland. Michael Jacob of Dover-Foxcroft has been documenting and videotaping what he says are UFO's.

His first sighting was last year, his most recent just last month. And according to the national UFO reporting center, he isn't alone. CBS 13 news looked up the reports showing reported UFO sightings here in Maine. According to the Mutual Unidentified Flying Object Network, also known as MUFON, Maine has the third most cases per capita of reported of UFO's sightings in the country. Top 10 Alien Sightings. Apparently, the pageantry surrounding the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton was so entertaining even extraterrestrials couldn't resist checking it out. At least that was the scoop from The Sun, a British tabloid. It ran stills lifted from a two-and-a-half minute video clip shot by a visiting tourist that showed a blurry blob the paper characterized as a "shimmering white object" hovering in the cloudless sky over Westminster Abbey on the morning before the wedding.

"It changed shape, but stayed there for at least 30 minutes," the tourist explained in an Internet posting. "Then I lost sight of it. " Skeptics might explain the ambiguous images as lens distortion, vapor trails from an aircraft, or perhaps just wishful thinking. Alien Life. Ariel School, Ruwa, Zimbabwe, 62 School Children Encounter UFO. Is there a scientific explanation for alien abduction. In the old days, humans were haunted mostly by ghosts, spirits and demons. Following World War II, as the scientific age took firmer root in the human subconscious, alien abductions became the more common explanation for bizarre, personal encounters with seemingly otherworldly beings.

In most cases, scientists blamed those encounters on sleep paralysis and waking, hypnopompic hallucinations. This is a kind of temporary paralysis accompanied by visual and auditory hallucinations, often charged with the sexual fantasy elements of one's belief system or pop culture. Depending on the contents of your mind, you might experience such an encounter as an angel visitation or something entirely different. In other cases, researchers have attributed abduction experiences to schizophrenia, organic brain syndrome, bipolar illness, delayed post-traumatic stress disorder or even food allergies. CNN Cooper Anderson covers UFO disclosure.

Unmasking the Face on Mars. New high-resolution images and 3D altimetry from NASA's Mars Global Surveyor spacecraft reveal the Face on Mars for what it really is: a mesa. Listen to this story (requires any MP3 Player) May 24, 2001 -- Twenty five years ago something funny happened around Mars. NASA's Viking 1 spacecraft was circling the planet, snapping photos of possible landing sites for its sister ship Viking 2, when it spotted the shadowy likeness of a human face.

An enormous head nearly two miles from end to end seemed to be staring back at the cameras from a region of the Red Planet called Cydonia. There must have been a degree of surprise among mission controllers back at the Jet Propulsion Lab when the face appeared on their monitors. But the sensation was short lived. Above: A 1976 Viking 1 photograph of the Face on Mars. A few days later NASA unveiled the image for all to see. It certainly did! The "Face on Mars" has since become a pop icon. But not everyone was satisfied. More Headlines. NASA's Alien Anomalies caught on film - A compilation of stunning UFO footage from NASA's archives. NASA Confirms Aliens Exist - Right On Our Planet. By Meera Dolasia on December 8, 2010 Word Search The human race has been obsessed with finding Alien life for centuries. Turns out, they may actually exist - not in the planets far beyond, but right here on Earth.

And the discovery was made by none other than the smart scientists of NASA, who announced their big news amidst much fanfare, at a press conference held in Washington D.C. on December 2nd. Unfortunately for most of us, the 'aliens' are not little green men who have mistakenly arrived from a distant planet, but a bacterium identified as the GFAJ-1 strain of the Halomonadaceae family, which was discovered at the bottom of Northern California's highly saline, Mono Lake. To test their theory, they extracted the bacteria from the lake and starved it for phosphorous, substituting it with arsenic, which while chemically similar to phosphorous is highly poisonous to most living things.
