How to Get More Pins and Repins on Pinterest. Data about Pinterest is sparse because they’ve been slow to release their API, but I was able to utilize search engine APIs to pull some data about the trendy new social site. I gathered information on over 11,000 pinned images and did some analysis to create the infographic below. This data should be useful for Pinterest users who’d like to get more repins on the images they’ve pinned, as well as content producers who want their content pinned and repinned more.

I hope to be able to do more research into Pinterest, especially as they release their API. Let me know what data you’d like to see. Why Is Pinterest So Addictive? [INFOGRAPHIC] I ask myself this question every day (and every night at 2 a.m. when I'm still pinning). But seriously, what is so great about spending hours browsing other people's images? Column Five created this infographic to examine the Pinterest addiction that seems to be spreading like a zombie apocalypse virus. Proof? Pinterest users spend an average 98 minutes on site per month, third only to Tumblr (2.5 hours) and Facebook (7 hours).

Antidote? Beyond the data, the company examines why Internet culture is so fascinated with pinning. Then there's the issue of social media fatigue. You be the judge. As everyone goes Pinterest crazy, more and more stats are emerging about its potential for online retailers and marketers. This infographic from Maxymiser contains some useful data on who is using the site, what they are doing on the site, as well as some ideas on how brands can use Pinterest. For more on Pinterest, see guest blogger Dave Wieneke's three part series. He explains its potential for digital marketers, the copyright issues which may threaten it, and Pinterest's business model.

A Very (P)interesting. The Hectic Life of a Social Media Manager. Before I have spring break I get to do a project for Marketing about being a social media manager. I already know quite a lot about the social media realm, but the amount of time constantly put into work as Social Media Manager is ridiculous. I could defiantly do it, it would be a hard lifestyle to get used to, but I can’t say that facebook and twitter aren’t fun. I know some parents tell their kids that the amount of time they spend on facebook is a waste of time, but the child can just say they are training for work one day. Back when I only had video games, telling my parents I was going to be a professional gamer never got a good response. Social media marketing is a much more realistic profession.
