Talented, skilled and all around awesome artist, Michelle Blade asked me to interview her for RVCA's blog a few week's back. As I say in the intro I have long loved Michelle's work so it was a real honor. We chat about her current work and the installation up in RVCA's shop on Haight. Check it out: I had the pleasure of sitting down and having a virtual conversation with San Francisco Bay Area artist, Michelle Blade. Although we both live in SF, and pretty much live blocks apart — neither of us could find the time to meet.

Interview with Jay Ryan of the screen printing shop The Bird Machine near Chicago. The video is part two of the very promising Practice & Space series. There is a growing movement of people that dedicate themselves to more sustainable, more difficult and/or more expensive practices in order to produce a higher quality result. I’m absolutely in love with Hypebeast ‘s Modern Day Artisans series, a study into British handcrafted products. Great music, great mood, fantastic editing and beautiful people!

We visited the Louvre, at a time when we had no silk purchases in view, and looked at its miles of paintings by the old masters. Some of them were beautiful, but at the same time they carried such evidences about them of the cringing spirit of those great men that we found small pleasure in examining them. Their nauseous adulation of princely patrons was more prominent to me and chained my attention more surely than the charms of color and expression which are claimed to be in the pictures. Gratitude for kindnesses is well, but it seems to me that some of those artists carried it so far that it ceased to be gratitude and become worship.Personal Report

New designs are posted every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and include the Bible story re-written by DeShano.Prints of each design are available on Society6 and proceeds are donated to charity helping to provide safe water to the village of Lwala, Kenya.

Adam "MCA" Yauch —founding member of the Beastie Boys—passed away at the age of 47 this Friday following a prolonged bout with cancer. The influential music icon took his group from a garage band in Brooklyn to superstardom alongside Michael "Mike D" Diamond and Adam "Adrock" Horovitz. In addition to music, Yauch led charities for Tibetan citizens, 9/11 victims and directed several of the band's music videos. 2. Tom Sachs takes New York City to Mars in his new immersive installation at the Park Avenue Armory, SPACE PROGRAM: MARS. For four weeks, the artist and a crew of thirteen will enact various missions and rituals as if on Mars, albeit a world of faux space suits, space ships, and craters, constructed of plywood, found junk, and several trips to the hardware store. At Tuesday night’s opening preview, guests sipped ‘Astronaut Sunrise with Mars Salt Rim’ and ‘Vader Piss,’ including the likes of Kanye West, Julian Schnabel, Nate Lowman , and Hanna Liden , with Bill Powers manning the Indoctrination station.
