Get flash to fully experience Pearltrees
May 2nd, 2011 H&M Top, Gap Pants and Heels, Cupcakes and Cashmere for COACH Bag, Elizabeth and James Sunglasses This weekend was spent almost entirely outdoors and couldn’t have been more fun. My parents surprised me for my birthday (by crashing our Cinco de Mayo party) and were instrumental in helping us polish off leftover enchiladas and margaritas. My mom and I also managed to squeeze in a quick shopping trip, which resulted in finding my new favorite casual pants (that I found in the men’s section at Gap). They’re supremely soft, just relaxed enough and the neutral grayish-khaki ensures that they’ll be an official spring staple.
photo: justin coit for thebeautydepartment.com post designed by kristin ess Our email box is literally flooded with requests for updos so here’s a fun one to get us all going! This is always a favorite for attending an event. This updo looks gorgeous on any hair color but particularly amazing with hilighted hair because it gives the hair lots of depth and dimension. For lack of a better word, I love the way it becomes “swirly”. Best thing is; it’s easy to do, gorgeous and keeps your hair out of your way for the night.
Last month I did a makeover story with Kelsie and had many requests for a maiden braid tutorial. Yesterday she came in and we photographed these simple step by steps. Kelsie has extremely long and thick hair, but anyone with shoulder length or longer can do these braids (see my photo below for an example). Steps 1-2: Braid two strands on each side of a center part.
The strongest/intense full moon of 2013 is tomorrow night. It's good to prepare for these as they may being up situations and healing that need to be addressed. Think yoga, clean eating, getting your beauty sleep, detox bubble baths, meditation, creatin a sacred space, cleaning out closets and just creating some awesme art. Be creative, open and relaxed.
Josh Goot Dress / Nicholas ID Bracelet / Gorjana Rings / Charlotte Olympia Heels After having a tropical storm follow us down the coast in Queensland, Luke and I knew there wasn't going to be a lot to do without the sun and the surf so we decided to head inland and made our way from the Sunshine Coast to The Hinterlands. We stopped by the Noosa Botanic Gardens (can you tell gardens seem to be one of my favourite places to visit in each city?) and were blown away by this Greek-style amphitheatre hiding beside a picturesque lake. Luckily I had been dragging my Josh Goot dress around in our car, waiting for the perfect piece of architecture to suit its minimalistic and strong structure so this seemed like the perfect setting.
tank c/o once youth , triangle necklace c/o under the pyramids , bag c/o rose above vintage , diy shorts, jeffrey campbell shoes, topshop claw bracelet, wild & free feathers earring My friend Madelyn and I took a little stroll into Wilderness Park and happened upon that dead beaver. Poor lil guy. Died right on a trail. Stinky little fellow. After my latest road trip I am itching to get out and enjoy more scenery, so this helped.

Here’s how it looks in my bed right now! I’m packing my bag and the list so far consists of a pocket-knife, padlock, comfortable shoes, stomach bag, mosquito bracelet, camera, day cream with sunscreen, road-crayons (haha), power pack (a big battery you can charge your phone with even if you do not have access to a socket), plasters, hand rub and make-up removal wipes. Do you guys have any smart tips on things that may come in handy on the trip?
