Open Design Patterns | Main / HomePage

http://patterns.holehan.org/ This is the place to document and share proven Human-Computer Interaction design knowledge in an open community manner. You may apply for write access to add your own patterns for review by the "Open Design Patterns" community. To present the main settings navigation put two panels next to each other - ideally in a horizontal layout. One of them contains the labels of the main settings navigation. The other one displays the content of the selected entry.

Main Page - Social Patterns

The Designing Social Interfaces patterns wiki is a companion site to the book that Christian Crumlish and Erin Malone are currently writing for O'Reilly Media. We decided to share the patterns as we write the patterns and the book to get community feedback. We think that hearing a variety of opinions about these topics will make the material stronger and more representative of what's happening in social interfaces. As we complete sections of the book, we will be adding the patterns.

Information Design Patterns

In maps and network diagrams, the available display space is often smaller than the area populated with data items - a design problem that you will face at the latest when applying zoom functionality to your interface. If the user can’t see the whole display within one single view, let him move the data space around the display. This can be achieved by providing a set of directional buttons, or by letting the user shove the data space around via drag and drop. http://www.niceone.org/infodesignpatterns/index.php5
