I have a broken back, (33 years ago I fell off a cliff) and used to get really frustrated because I couldn't find the information I needed for lots of particular subjects. Like help with school, transportation issues, handicapped sports groups. But now with the web, I'm having a much easier time getting the answers I'm looking for, and my goal, both with this site and a web page I'm developeing called This Ability.org is so other people will be able to readily find para-skis, and hand controls for thier car, and help with education, etc. It's a subject near and dear to my heart, and I can use all the help I can get! Thanks all, Philip drszusz May 22

They also provide a reference for society as laws, regulations and structures are developed that impact on the lives of disabled people. There are two main models that have influenced modern thinking about disability: the medical model and the social model . In the medical model, disabled people are seen as the problem.

This is my very own site. I'm using weebly.com to work on it now. The premise is that physically challenged folks like myself tend to forget, for various reasons what we CAN do, as opposed to our 'limitations'. And to reopen our minds to the fun things we did before our injurys. by drszusz May 18

Established in 1979, Helping Hands: Monkey Helpers for the Disabled is the only non-profit organization in the world that raises and trains capuchin monkeys to provide daily, in-home assistance to people living with spinal cord injury or other mobility impairments. Helping Hands builds lasting relationships between monkey helpers and recipients. Our service monkeys provide gifts of independence, companionship, dignity, and hope to the people they help. We support each service monkey and his or her human partner during their many years together through interactive mentoring and close supervision of the monkey’s behavioral, nutritional, and veterinary needs. Through the generous support of donors and volunteers, Helping Hands is able to provide these specially trained service animals and their lifetime support free of charge to our recipients.

Possibilianism is a philosophy which rejects both the idiosyncratic claims of traditional theism and the positions of certainty in atheism in favor of a middle, exploratory ground. The term was first defined by neuroscientist David Eagleman in relation to his book of fiction Sum . Asked whether he was an atheist or a religious person on a National Public Radio interview in February, 2009, he replied "I call myself a Possibilian: I'm open to ideas that we don't have any way of testing right now." In a subsequent interview with the New York Times, Eagleman expanded on the definition: "Our ignorance of the cosmos is too vast to commit to atheism, and yet we know too much to commit to a particular religion.
