We Are the 99 Percent. 14th October 2013 Question with 172 notes Anonymous asked: How can you claim to speak for 99% of people?

We Are the 99 Percent

We don’t claim to speak for anyone, we merely present stories. 14th October 2013 Photo with 186 notes I am 23 years old I am a female (not that it should make a difference, but apparently in our society it does…) From the day I moved out of my parent’s house, I’ve supported myself 100%, not because they don’t love me but because they can’t support my dreams financially.

For over two years I schlepped 2-for-1’s and shots to pay for my rent, a used car, and tuition at a community college. Now I’m attending the University of MN and I depleted all of my savings just so I wouldn’t have to take out a loan this semester. I’m majoring in journalism, a profession I consider a civic duty. I am the 99%. occupywallst.org 14th October 2013 Question with 12 notes Anonymous asked: We are the 99 percent- Why don't we RECALL these extremist NUTS that are in Washington, DC.??!!!! 9th September 2013 Thank you! Occupy Wall Street and the Democratic Party. 8 October 2011 As the Occupy Wall Street protest enters its fourth week, it confronts increasingly sharp political pressures and choices that center on the question of the Democratic Party.

Occupy Wall Street and the Democratic Party

On Thursday, both President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden made statements meant to project sympathy for the protesters. Obama, at a White House press conference, declared that they “are giving voice to a more broad-based frustration about how our financial system works.” In virtually the same breath he defended his support for the TARP bailout of the banks.

At a forum in Washington, Biden asserted that the protests have “a lot in common with the Tea Party.” Biden’s reference to the Tea Party was by no means offhand. The right-wing, pseudo-populist Tea Party was largely the creation of the Republican Party, pumped up by Fox News and the rest of the media. This has produced growing alarm in the US corporate and political establishment. A turning point to what? Capitalism has failed. Arrests, Lies, and Videotape: the Truth About the Brooklyn Bridge Arrests. Occupy Wall Street (OWS) is not the only group using YouTube as part of its messaging campaign to win public support.

Arrests, Lies, and Videotape: the Truth About the Brooklyn Bridge Arrests

The New York Police Department’s (NYPD) arrest of 700 OWS protesters on the Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday October 1 was nothing but a public relations stunt to sway the people to their side. One NYPD official even admitted it was “a planned move on the protesters.” “Come into my parlor,” said the spider to the fly. The NYPD claims they warned marchers of the consequences of blocking traffic on the bridge and released footage on YouTube to prove it. The video shows that an officer ordered people to leave the roadway if they did not wish to be arrested. This was entrapment, plain and simple. OWS just learned an important lesson: never trust the cops.
