Op haar website hekelt Meeusen daarom de kaping van ‘een belangrijk maatschappelijk onderwerp’ door Verhaar. THE PROTESTORS occupying St Paul's have dismissed the thermal imaging scandal as a conspiracy orchestrated by the Corporation of London and elements of the press. The Daily Telegraph published thermal images from the protest camp on Monday night, which appeared to show that many of the tents were unoccupied, supposedly proving that the movement's members lacked the commitment to stay out all night. Reporters then entered the camp and were able to check inside three tents, one of which was unoccupied. The reporters allegedly encountered drug use and hostility, and were forced to leave as "the situation was likely to become unsafe". The Daily Mail then carried out its own thermal investigation, and reported that "only one in ten tents [were] occupied overnight", a figure which was then carried by The Sun and The Times.
The statistic was attributed to police, who have also been filming the site with thermal cameras. The clergy are increasingly divided over the issue.
