Medscape Access. Taming THC: potential cannabis synergy and phytocannabinoid-terpenoid entourage effects.

Endocannabinoids and You!

Medicaljane. The relationship between cannabis and anxiety is an interesting one. Large concentrations of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is often tied to bouts of paranoia and anxiety, however it is well-documented that cannabidiol (CBD) found in cannabis can counteract this effect. With that said, a group of Brazilian researchers published an article in the 2011 Journal of Psychopharmacology that further investigates the relationship between cannabidiol (CBD) and Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD). Their results suggest that CBD could offer a way for people suffering from SAD to help manage their symptoms. What Is Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD)? Affecting 12% of Americans in their lifetime, Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) is the most common form of anxiety and one of the most psychiatric disorders in general.

By definition, Social Anxiety Disorder is characterized by intense fear in one or more social situations. Brazilian Researchers Investigate CBD, Anxiety In Humans. Do Cannabinoids have a therapeutic role in transplantation? Modulation of P-glycoprotein activity by cannabinoid molecules in HK-2 renal cells. New Study: Cannabis May Prevent Organ Transplants From Being Rejected. A new study published in the Journal of Neuroimmune Pharmacology has found that delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) – one of the prime compounds in cannabis – can potentially stop organ transplant rejections from t aking place. The study, which found that the higher the dose of THC, the higher the chance of protecting against rejection, also found synthetic cannabinoids to share a similar protective ability.

This data supports the potential of this class of compounds [cannabinoids] to be used as therapies to prolong graft survival in transplant patients, the study concludes. According to researchers – although this study is one of the most detailed of its type – these findings aren’t particularly new; Cannabinoids were reported to have effects on immune responses as early as the 1970s, states the study.

The study was conducted by researchers at Temple University in Philadelphia. – TheJointBlog. Do Cannabinoids have a therapeutic role in transplantation? Everything you wanted to know about cannabinoids: What are cannabinoids? There was a time, not too long ago, that I was not doing science. Because I remember that time, I also remember how completely ignorant I was of science. This is no more apparent than the science of cannabinoids, i.e., the stuff in marijuana.

My only knowledge of cannabinoids was that marijuana got you high and cured every disease. Having spent five years researching THC, I learned that there was a much richer, deeper story than that. You see, the term cannabinoids, itself, is not operationally defined very easily. Delta9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the main psychoactive constituent (not ingredient) of marijuana. There are also endogenous cannabinoids, which are molecules synthesized within our body that act as part of an endogenous cannabinoid system. In one sense, cannabinoids are defined as constituents of marijuana, even though they have no pharmacological efficacy that is known. When I was testing the effects of THC, I carried out tetrad studies. Alzheimer’s Prevention Starts with Marijuana, According to British Journal. A paper published by the British Journal of Pharmacology suggests that the chemical compounds in marijuana likely prevent the onset of Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, and age-related dementia.

Chronic brain inflammation, oxidative stress, and intra-cellular dysfunction are the primary reasons why people develop these debilitating neurological diseases. The study found that both THC and CBD (the primary chemical compounds found in marijuana) positively affect nerve cell function in consumers, significantly reducing these harmful neurological conditions. THC and CBD (called cannabinoids) tap into a primal, chemical signaling system in cells called “the endocannabinoid system.” The paper shows cannabinoids dampen inflammation, protect cells from oxidative damage, and promote cell health on a number of levels.

Medicaljane. For years now Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) has been the most popular and widely researched cannabinoid in cannabis science. However, nowadays it seems like cannabidiol (CBD) has stolen the spotlight given its ability to provide therapeutic relief to children suffering from various epileptic disorders, while lacking the psychotropic effects (i.e. high) of THC. It’s even gotten to the point that state legislature are passing laws “CBD-only” medical marijuana legislation. Given all of this, it is easy to see how CBD and THC can be viewed as being in competition. But the reality is that both compounds, along with as many as 66 other cannabinoids, play important roles in providing the therapeutic benefits associated with cannabis therapy.

They work in conjunction with approximately 420 additional compounds (terpenes, flavonoids, etc.) to give cannabis its versatility in treating a multitude of medical ailments. Medical Marijuana: Much More Than Just THC and CBD Affecting Multiple Targets.

Why Don't You Try This?: The Top 42 Medical Studies That Prove Cannabis Can Cure Cancer. 20 Medical Studies That Prove Cannabis Can Cure Cancer. Cannabis has been making a lot of noise lately. Multiple states across the United States and countries around the world have successfully legalized medical Marijuana, and the Uruguay parliament recently voted to create the world’s first legal marijuana market. This is good news as the health benefits of Cannabis are vast, with multiple medical and scientific studies that confirm them. On the other hand, arguments against the use of marijuana is usually published in Psychiatric journals, which show no scientific evidence that Cannabis is harmful to human health. All psychological evaluations from the intake of cannabis are largely based on assumptions, suggestions and observations (1). When we look at the actual science behind Cannabis, the health benefits can be overwhelming.

So what does one who opposes the use of cannabis base their belief on? Nothing, not scientific evidence anyways. Let’s take a look at the science behind Cannabis and Cancer. Brain Cancer 1. 2. 3. 4. Breast Cancer.
