A la rédaction d'High And Loud, on vous propose ce mois-ci la découverte d'un tout nouveau groupe en provenance de cette bonne vieille Albion The Witches . Créé sur les cendres encore chaude de The Crooked Canes , le groupe a rapidement démontré son envie de conquérir l'industrie musicale à la force du poignet et de concerts fiévreux. La sortie de leur EP fin janvier 2012 est donc une première étape dans une carrière qui semble se placer sous les meilleurs augures. Leur style? Un son garage bien sombre et sale auquel se mêlent des tonalités plus psychédéliques. Le groupe mené par le frontman Kristian Bell a acquis en peu de temps une réputation dépassant les murs de sa ville natale Brighton grâce à des influences aussi diverses que Nirvana , Jack White , les Arctic Monkeys ou encore The Doors et à des concerts à la fois hypnotiques et bruts.

People like Mahalia are exceedingly rare indeed. If you’re happy to take a minute out of your time to check her music out, you’ll undoubtedly feel the same way. People that own their voices and pick up a distinct style always beep the loudest on our musical radar. Upon first listen to Mahalia that much is clear, her songwriting abilities (though she has worked with fellow artists on this), and musical talents are well worthy of their place in the public consciousness upon their own merit. When you realise she is only 13 years old, it becomes obvious quite how special that makes her.

This past week we had the chance to speak with solo artist Frankie Rose . Many of you will recognize Frankie for the work that she has done with her previous incarnation Frankie Rose & The Outs, or possibly from her drumming previously with the groups' Dum Dum Girls, Crystal Stilts, and Vivian Girls. On Thursday, April 5th, Philadelphia's North Star Bar will play host to the first date of her April/May tour along with openers DIVE (also joining Frankie on tour), and locals East Hundred.

Lisa Loeb The image on this poster is the same one that features on the back cover to Loeb’s 1997 album Firecracker , which saw her move away from the girlish Lilith pop of her debut release and towards a more AOR sound. It received an 8.8 from Pitchfork Media, with the reviewer, Lang Whitaker, positively commenting on how the album’s lead single, “I Do”, has a video in which Loeb is “squirming around on pink shag carpeting, not wearing any pants”. The review, for some reason, has since been removed from the Pitchfork website . Nadanuf This is the cover to Nadanuf’s only album, 1997’s Worldwide.I'm working on my Best of Quarter 1 mix.
